I took my MAK-90 shooting today. I was using Wolf ammunition. It DOUBLED for the first time ever. (three times actually)

MY FN-FAL is just a dream to shoot. It is also easier to clean. It is more expensive to manufacture/buy, but it is worth it. If I had to carry it all day, every day for a year, the pendulum might swing back to the AK because of weight.

My first thought would be that an axis pin worked itself loose, causing trigger group parts misalignment. Is this mak90 a factory built gun, or a parts kit build? When I test fired my homebuilt ak, I did not install the shepherds crook wire retainer, so the pins backed out all the time causing misfires and doubling.

It is a factory original 100% stock MAK-90. It only has a few hundred rounds through it. I'll check the wire retainer. Thanks for the information.

you might try stretching your disconnector spring a tad or just replacing it. it sounds like the disconnector is releasing early.

If you're easing back on the trigger, and your arm/hand is rigid you can often get a double, sometimes a triple. It's the same action as "bump-firing"--the rifle fires, recoils away from the rigid finger, the triger resets, then thr rifle bounces back from your shoulder against the trigger and it fires again. I've had it from one MAK-90, the one with the best trigger. It was not a problem until I smoothed the trigger out. And it doesn't happen much, only when pulling the trigger very slowly.

Clean out the firing pin channel and the pin. Most maks do not have a spring loaded firing pin. You get crap in there and it can get stuck. Other than that check the sear spring and the hammer sear engagement.
