Did the real Tantals in 5.45 have 3 round burst or what? On akron armory's website the pictures they have of their demilled tantals have a few extra parts in them. I'm pretty familiar with FA stuff and these little bits look like burst cams for an M16 or something else. On Akron's website, it is the silver part just under the auto sear. Is it just some overly complicated rate reducer or what?

The Tantal's, along with the Onyks and Beryl series have... C, P, & S - Auto, Single shot, and triple (three shot) - which explains the trigger group.

Hey Thanks a LOT that was driving me crazy... I knew that some of the Galils had burst but as far as I knew they never put it on AKs. On these Tantals did the receiver actually have the 4 cuts for the selector then? safe> burst> full> semi? or safe, full, burst, semi? and do you have anymore information on these Onyks and Beryls? I've never even heard of them. :uhoh_smal

The following markings are the same for the Tantal/Onyks/Beryl series...

Here are the markings on the left side of the receiver, where the selector switch is...
Switch...
Automatic Fire: "C", for Ciagly (Sustained)
Single Shot: "P". for Pojedynczy (Single)
Triple Mode (Three Shot Burst): "S", for Seryjny (Serial)

Here are the markings for the safety lever on the right side of the receiver...
Lever...
Locked/Safe Position: "Z", for Zabezpieczony (Safe)
Unlocked/Fire Select Position: "O", for Odbezpieczony (Unsafe)

The wz.89/91 (89 - 5.45, 91 - 5.56) Onyks (Onyx) is the Polish version of the AKSU, slight modifications made to their likings. Shorter BBL, short HG's, misc. differences in other parts, the FSB & RSB, etc.; the wz.91 never went into production - very few were ever made. The wz.89 went into very limited production. The Beryl & Mini-Beryl, modified versions of the Tantal/Onyks are now the current production/issue arms w/ Polish Armed Forces and some LE. The Beryl series are in chambered in 5.56.

Hope that helps...

thats all news to me I really appreciate it. Now all I have to do is dig up some pictures of the tantals, I'm guessing that the really steep slope toward the rear of the stock on the picture above "The AK Files" at the top of this page is so when the stock is folded you can still operate the selector with it being on the left, that and a better cheek weld. Thanks again PKP!

Hmmm the picture was different when I posted this, it had the folder... oh well

Is anyone aware of any registered full auto Tantals in the US.

Most def. in USASF Arsenal. Maybe BATFE as well. Maybe a post sample out there as well.
