Looks like we hit a wall. Hear all the new kits as of today are getting barrels chopped and i just called centerfire and there out of romy's (THERE GOING LIKE HOTCAKES)..... I just snagged 2 kits off acution arms. but it sounds like there gonna get high real quick. If we have no barrel with the kits in the future guess we can always make some .45 and 9mm Carbines.........
Its time to over come and adapt!!!!!!!!!!
That which does not kill us makes us stronger!!!!!

Always a way over the wall guys. sure we can get over this one too!

Why not simply DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE CORE PROBLEM.
Like organize, and write, call, fax your congressmen for a repeal of the foreign importation ban. If the "weapon" is no longer banned from importation then neither is the barrel.

Think about it. All these restrictions, limitations, and rulings would be meaningless with the import ban they are based upon.

Call GOA, NRA, Congress, State reps ALL OF THEM. Spread the word, LET THEM KNOW WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH AND THAT IF IT DOESNT CHANGE THEN WE WILL ELECT PEOPLE WHO WILL CHANGE IT.

GOAs website has a real good e-mail feature for contacting your senators and other politicians.

Hey guy, the kits we get are former military arms/select fire weapons and there aint no way this or any administration will allow their importation nohow, no way, not now.

But I agree with you that we should be able to own or import any darn thing we want.
But let's be realistic. Let's work on allowing import of semi-auto arms first then get the 'no new (or used) machinegun ban' lifted.
We lost our rights so easily and it's very hard to get them back, especially with screaming Liberals like Pelosi, Kennedy, Schumer, Brady, Kerry, Boxer, etc. pissing their collective panties about ANY firearms. These idiots must be stopped. So write your Congressmen and Senators and VOTE!

if im understanding this thread correctly, the the Bureau of Annoying Tyrannical Fuckheads, or as they are better known, the BATF, have decided that not only do the receivers have to be destroyed, but so do the barrels.

there goes another perfectly good hobby. snatched out from underneath me by liberal douchebags again..... :mad_small

In case anybody is interested.

Before we get all wrapped up and start paying anything and everything the sellers want for these kits (some of which are only slightly above junk), can someone find out for sure just exactly what the BATF has said, if anything....
There are times when you have to wonder if some of these stories are just a ploy to pull more cash out of your wallet.
Do you think the media would let something like this go by without at least mentioning it in passing? They would like nothing better then to blow the home gunsmithing hobby all out of proportion, and then rip it to shreds.

Let's sit back and look at the facts. So far nobody has anything concrete as to the truth of this, only "did you hear". If this is true why would an importer sell kits in bulk on an auction website? Why not wait until the price people are willing to pay doubles? If I were an importer such as CFS the only reason I would "dump" kits is either there is something wrong with them or the price is getting ready to drop. Kind of like a stock broker getting out from under overpriced stock before the bottom falls out. Also, CFS does'nt have the best reputation for honesty. There are alot of romy kits still around. I just bought two from Tapco yesterday and Numrich Arms is still advertising them along with other vendors. I noticed in the last couple of weeks that the price was starting to slip on these kits which is an indication of a saturated market. I'm just wondering if the market is going to be inundated with these in the near future.

well IF this thing does happen, then where can we purchace new, used, or servicable, barrels

"well IF this thing does happen, then where can we purchase new, used, or serviceable, barrels"

Douglas, E.R. Shaw, and many others make really good barrels. It's not going to be as cheap as it "used" to be, but any
decent machine shop can cut the outside contour of an AK barrel on a better tube that any ComBlock has ever
produced. Where there's a will, there's a way, don't sweat the small stuff.
Think about this: They have teenage kids building AK's from scratch in Pakistan, there will always be lots of small parts that will be available like FCG's around, as well as flats and formed 80% receivers, work from that.
Another point, when has a law been passed that didn't give a grace period before it was enacted. The previous laws required months to take effect, and no one was required to destroy barrels or any other parts. They were kept in storage until they were legal again, and the sellers could charge more ;-)
Guys, can we calm down until we know what's going on? There's plenty of time to panic after the truth is known... :-)

There is another batch of ten, BTWOh, sorry, looks like she (Lois) pulled the plug on this batch. Time for a little price 'restructuring' shall we say? (It was $800 for ten last week).

You guys sit back and wait all you want. In the 1920's I think you could mail order a fully automatic Thompson submachine gun. Lawmakers make laws, that is their job and it usually involves the restricting of the individual's rights. (i.e. fishing license, driver's license, freon license, seat belt law, etc.). This is not a new trend.

When the Germans invaded a territory (another country), They posted notice that you had 24 hours to surrender your firearms or be subject to execution. People with guns make lawmakers (and invading armies) very nervous.

Lois has been advertising 10 lot batches on Gunbroker for at least 60 days (which is all the farther back I looked). The older adds used "10" in the title and the recent adds used "ten" in the title. Also, there were two lot prices. $800 for ones with missing muzzle brakes, etc, and $1000 for nice ones. Both prices included shipping. I think these are basically lots made of kits that used to go for $85 and $109 (plus shipping). There were no takers until yesterday when two lots were sold. One to me and one to someone else. Last I looked, she hasnt relisted more lots. Could be that she is on holiday. Could be something else. On another board, she said more Romys are coming. She didnt say at what price.

I really hate people that make statement before they click on a link and read what an importer posted that he recieved a fax from his Washington attorneys telling him that processing of Form 6 (Import permit) applications for “non-sporting firearms and barrels” is suspended. So this means that military surplus parts kits not just AK's. So any kit that is from any where but the good old USA so buy AR 15 kits. Since I have little understanding of the Government about 30 plus years. I can agree with what the importer is saying. So there was no new law or new codification. Just that BATF has suspended processing of Form 6 applications for “non-sporting firearms and barrels”. This dosen't apply to complete firearms that are C&R or firearms that BATF has classified
as a sporting firearm.

Now here a fix

It's all a BS RUMOR!! It was probably started by someone to boost the price of kits. That's why some of the posts & threads are being deleted.

I told you. Now read for yourself. Open letter from ATF.

Renaissance_Warrior was Lied to and it was legal not to tell him. There are laws on the books that allows them not to tell lawenforcement procedures or action taken.
