Due to the EXTREMELY HIGH cost of replacement SVT40 mags has anyone ever tried to adapt anything else. Looked at some Romak 7.62x54 mags for about $25 bucks and was wondering if there were close enough to modify for the SVT. Dont car about originality just want a couple extra mags for plinking that dont cost $80!!! Ayone have any ideas?

I've heard tale of Romak/PSL/FPK mags being adapted, but yet I can also say I've never actually SEEN one done that way. you could always try it?

Man,
THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY GUY I KNEW THAT HAD AN SVT 40.... HAVE YALL EVER HAD ANY MISFIRES? YEARS AGO AFTER I PURCHASED MINE, I WENT TO RANGE IN COLLEGE STATION AND HAD A COUPLE OF MISFIRES. I KNOW THESE GUNS ARE A BIT FRANKENSTIENED AND I KNOW THE AMMO COULD BE QUESTIONABLE IN QUALITY, SO I WAS CURIOUS IF YALL HAD THESE ISSUES AND HOW EASY IT WOULD BE TO REPLACE OR EVEN FIND A FIRING PIN FOR THESE HANDSOME LOOKING AUTOLOADERS?

I've never had a misfire, mis-feed, failure to exract or anythign out of my izhevsk SVT. Firing Pin would be available from Mark Kubes. HTH~

i had a problem with misfires on my 1940 i thought it was ammo but it was that i didnt clean the bolt good enough and the firing pin wasnt fully engaging the primer,i cleaned it a bit better and it ate anything i fed it after that.
BTW....i wish i never sold it but i love my romak3 so i guess you have to pay to play, one had to go.bought it 8 years ago for $250,sold it last year for $600..keep it as long as you can.
