My brother and I just bought a couple of these, how are you supposed to load these?Just push them in like a regular mag or is there a certain way it has to be done?

I've never used the Romanian drum; isn't there a lever to pull the follower down a cartridge or two at a time? Other thab that, you load it like most magazines: put the rounds in one at a time through the lips.

The Chinese is loaded by opening the back, holding down the spring release while spinning the spider back to retract the follower, then dropping cartridges into the slots. Close the back, then wind the spring before you use it.

Took me about an hour to figure it out. The lever sort of ratchets the rotator just far enough to allow you to load one round. Push it down against the spring pressure and pop in one round. Let up on lever. Repeat 75 times. There are three or four dummy rounds permanently linked together. Their purpose is to drive the last of the rounds up and out of the drum part into the rifle. The last link also keeps the rotator from spinning completely unwound after the last round is fed. If you take it apart you'll see what I mean. Make sure you reinstall the linked dummies the same way they came out. I think it will only go back together one way though. I don't know how much preload the spring should have. I probably have 3/4 of a rotation of preload on the spring. Too much preload will make it very hard to load and probably shorten spring life. Too little preload will cause it to feed unreliably toward the end of the mag.
