Obama's new crack pipe??? I give up.

L Haney
Gotta' admit, looks like it handles air, but it's so damn specific for the application, I ain't got a clue. I usually do pretty good on this kind of stuff, but this boy is stumped.

Induction flow limiter with variable directional coupling. Used almost exclusively in tranporter pattern filter systems. Newer systems had multiple directional coupling capability, but were somewhat troublesome if polar alighnment was not calibrated to the local latitude. They worked ok, but there are some better systems available noadays.

Kidding.

My guess? Some type of air flow heat exchanger. Maybe something as simple as some type of closed system heating/cooling vent?

Question for ya Blackwolf-

I need a tank for a new mig I have and I don't have the $260 for a new 40 cf tank. I see B tanks for $40+, can I use it and will it last very long? Should I get a couple? Will AirGas give me a hastle to fill? Do they carry Bs with 75/25 mix? Would you recomend 75/25 for home use?

Any other sources for tanks beside AirGas or craiglist?

Etek
Penile implant (With vibrasource) for Mark III Mod 1 megabot.
See the holes? Made it quite obvious to me.

Edited to add that it's a symphatetic vibrasource (4 holes)

Alright, you guys guessing air applications are right.

Its an air oxidizer.

I am not privelged the info to its exact application, just know it is for some kind of hydrogen fuel delivery system.

To what, I dont know?

I get thrown the prints and told build it, so thats what I do. The customer won't answer real detailed questions

Air is forced in the two inlets by my welding shield.

Those two small fittings on the side are for gas. An ignition system is on inside and when fired up it forces super heated air out of the copper grids on the back

Those grids are hundreds of wavy copper plates sandwiched into a SS frame and weigh a f*cking ton

When this thing is on it heats up orange from the heat and is made from 309 SS to keep from melting to a puddle.

It has a .375 gap all around the inside of the sheet joint that is not welded to act as a hinge joint so it can expand.

The tabs on the the outside seam are to help the welds from cracking from the
hinging effect. Kind off like bending a piece of metal back and forth till it splits in half. Same principal.

This one is a second gen prototype and the only one commissioned from around the country that went thru first time without being reworked.

With only a + or - of 1/32" tolerance it was a pain in the ass

Definatlely application specific.

I have clearance to go see it in action hooked up, if my boss will cut me loose for the day. My cell will be confiscated at the door and will not be able to get pics once in the building.

Week straight welding on this. All tig. Fun fun.

What are the B tanks, the little ones?

Sure you can use those. Get a couple and turn your regulator down just enough to get a good shield effect on the welds so you don't waste the gas.

If you use it alot you are going to burn thru the gas pretty quick but moderate use should last you awhile.

Make sure you turn the bottle off after you are done welding so you dont come back to an empty bottle from a leak the gremlins gave you.

75/25 aka Stargon, is great for mild steel wire and should suit you well for that.

If you gonna do SS I would go with pure Argon. Your welds will come out ALOT better than Stargon

Shouldnt be a hassle to fill. We use those tanks all the time with no probs. We call they bring em. Argon and Stargon.

Scott a 40cf cylinder should only cost around $100 or so, shop around more. thats what i payed. i just googled to reaffirm, and yeah about $100 and about $30 ish to fill

::edit:: heck for $260 you should be able to get a year lease on the larger oxy acetylene cylinders with a fill
