View Thread: Springsteen for free...

Just got handed free tickets to Springsteen! Normally wouldn't go, Springsteen being such a libtard, but a VIP Suite at the Palace of Auburn Hills with admission for 12 is just too hard to pass up. My wife sez to look at it this way, thats a pretty chunk of change that Bruce won't get...
Firefly
Yeah, if you're a fan of his music what the hell.I just can't stand his politics.I would'nt go,but then again I'm not a big fan of his music anyway.
drjarhead
I'd go. Hell yeah.
Wouldn't pay to go but for free?
Bet your ass. Sounds like a good time.
lsmurphy
I got to go to a Rays game in the Box Suite. Enjoy the company of snobs. I'd pass.

He already got his cut when the tickets were sold.
Enjoy the show.

Might as well go see a Michael Moore movie also. :bonk:
ENGLISH MIKE
Might as well go see a Michael Moore movie also. :bonk:
Nah: Moore's only claim to fame is his production of "mockumentaries" whereas Springsteen is a damn good artist of the musical persuasion with poor political sense.
Go & enjoy the show & f**k the politics.

I hear ya man,a little over a year ago this guy was performing fundraisers for the O man .I guess some people might of forgotten that.
drjarhead
So we're never going to watch a movie, listen to a CD or go to a concert?
Because that's pretty much it.
I don't go anywhere I have to spend money on them but we do get movies from the local library for 50cents. So shoot me.
Geez, guys. Gotta have a life too.
If you watched ANY movie or ANY CD I'll bet you some liberal made money off it somewhere down the line.
I did tell my wife though, that if she ever dies, the TV's are gone. Gone to the range.
I do like the History Channel though and it does help me keep up with the markets, news, etc.
drjarhead
Mike, go to concert, have a great time.
When you are old you can tell your great grandchildren about what it was like in the days before we ran the fascists off the continent.
Mandaree36
Good lord...
Springsteen...in concert...."the Boss"....
No Brainer - go.
I saw Springsteen nearly 14 years ago...and he rocked.

Hey now, we are avoiding the mere thought of GGKids, like the plague. My Grandson is too good looking, too popular with the girls and in that 15-20 YO danger zone. We've had many talks and he is a good kid, but all it takes is a moment of weakness and a little bad luck on a couple of kids part and its Great Grandpa Mike.
I AM to young for that shit...
panzertruppe
Yup MMC,
This is a default "yes"... Tell us how it goes and I hope you get plastered, if that's your thing of course, given this opp.. I would, but then, I played rugby so it's a given...

Damn, I'm almost as old as you and I don't even have a grandkid yet.

I'd scalp the tix 'cause I don't like his music and I could take the money and buy an expensive rifle.

I had enough of Springsteen back in the 70's.
What's HE ever done to this he should have more of a voice for his political than any one of us? Made a couple of records? Big freakin' deal.
The same could (and is) said about Barbara Streisand ... at least she's got TITS!
His music and singing are ... OK ... but he's just another big mouth New Jersey Liberal.
Screw him.

Just like bono. but from jersey. go mess with their politics in the box, and enjoy that. ;-)

Bono is an asswipe. Couple of good songs in the 80s and, well these CSc think they have a soapbox for life.

Born in the USA... and then sold out in the DNP. I used to really like his music, but his politics are just too far to the left to stomach listening to him any more for me. But to each their own; have fun.

Springstein sux. Sell the tickets, buy ammo....

I considered listing the Tix. But they are a gift and to do so could possibly damage the relationship with the giver. Just bad form in my mind. Not to mention it could stop the flow of occassional free tix.
So a party for a few friends and family it is. Never been in a suite before should be fun. Don't imagine the other suites will be ALL snobs, as most suites are company owned and often given away as gifts...

I'd scalp the tix 'cause I don't like his music and I could take the money and buy an expensive rifle.
+1..........Fuck Spinksterstien!
Swoopster
Like Laura Ingrahm says in her book "SHUT UP AND SING", exactly that.
Hey you want to talk your politics do it on your own dime, not mine. I didn'y pay $200 to come here and lecture me. Just sing your songs, them I can go home.
Scott, I love the comment about the aging rockers, Jagger, Tyler, and quite a few others look like death in the light of day.
Enjoy the concert, and you don't turn around and sell a gift. It would be one thing if you had won them in a contest or something.
Enjoy it, you are doing the class thing.

Well ... to be COMPLETELY fair ... I gotta give him some creds. Between my marriages Springsteen served as my unofficial warm up act.
Back in the day ... the right quantities of alcohol mixed ... AT EXACTLY THE RIGHT MOMENT ... with Springsteen singin' "Jersey Girl" ...
and some gal was gonna end up nekkid.
The rest was up to me.

Him and Bon Jovi are New Jersey Traitors.

What a Jackass.
Needs to pull his head from his poop tube and concentrate on his shitty music and whereabouts instead of his bullshit world views and politics.
Born to be dumb.

ON another note...
ZZ Top played here in ND last night, ten minutes from home.
Great show and they even knew where they were..
Rough concert though - 21 and over only....can you say fights...more fights...and then some more fights.
Them old boys kept playing like it wasnt nothing...
mmckown
It was really kinda funny. He would make a reference to the Pistons and the crowd would respond, Make a reference to Detroit, and the crowd would respond, then he'd yell out "Let hear it Ohio" and get a corus of boos. He'd look perplexed and start over. Took him 15 minutes before Van Zandt finally threw some water at him and told him his error. Okay by me, they say he added almost an hour to his regular show.
I will say he did look visibly embarrassed. Said it was every front mans nightmare and that after 40 years he could finally quit dreaming about it.
Just goes to show he is just another East coast liberal and that all the country between the two coasts is just Fly over country. Detroit , Ohio. Chicago Indiana, Cincinatti Kentucky. Unimportant places and people, that buy CDs...

It's precisely that kind of thing that has taken all the joy out of 'entertainment'. At my age I see through the BS.

Hardly free. I spent over $300 on drinks and food for everybody!
The show was surprisingly free of political BS. He made one 1 minute pitch for some charity I never heard of. That was it.
I do tend not to support those who have view points that are seriously in opposition to my own. But it was an enjoyable evening for most of my family and a few close friends. Most anyone close to my age is well aware of "the Boss" and grew up listening to his music. For a while he was known as the great uniter, as his music seemed to cross generational lines.
Honestly, in my opinion he is entitled to his view point. And to spend his money as he sees fit. What offends me is when he and others get disproportional attention because of who they are and use that attention to force their drival on others. Unlike Streisand, who laces her rare appearences with her political BS, Springsteen did not do so. People went to hear the music and believe me, they got that in spades.
On a side note the guy must love Telecasters. He must have used a dozen different ones in the show...
