Ballistol smell

Am I the only one who literally gags from the smell of Ballistol? It's a very good gun oil from what I can tell but something about the smell literally makes me gag / get nauseous. I have to use it with plenty of ventilation to get around it. No other oil, lubricant, cleaner or solvent that I can think of makes me have this involuntary gag reaction.

I love the shit. It's got a real classic old time aroma.

I think it's rather rank as well. I think it smells like fish oil. I love it for my BP guns, but it do got a funk about it.

the shooters choice aerosol spray.works real good for keeping rust away but it really bugs my lungs and kinda messes me up.(

At any rate, tons of posts. Some like the smell, some don't. Amazing what all that's been written about it.

Balistol doesn't bother me. I think LPS has one of the worst stinks of any lubes, other than certain types of axle grease.

cosmoline kinda smells like ass,but i like it unlike ass.sort of like fast food joints smells like pit oder as you drive by but i like it unlike pit oder.

There is anecdotal evidence that WD-40 works on arthritic joints. I ought to research the formula, but my guess is that on of the solvents in the stuff acts as a topical anti-inflammatory, much the same way as DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) does. You can't buy DMSO in a drugstore in the U.S,, but it is in many products in Canada. You can get a veterinary 'scrip for it for horses, which is how I got it for a broken shoulder. The FDA rules won't allow it here for use in humans. It is available in 55 gal drums for the printing industry. It is used to wash printing presses. Best thing for sore joints. Stinks, though, and gives you bad breath. Doc, please confirm. :cool_smal

It has a ton of uses as well, been around for a long time..
Them Germans are Smart fuggers..

the amonia in sweets 7.62 is some darn powerfull stuff.its got to where i need to use it in out doors or in well ventalated places.it works excelent for cutting copper.
