Way too thick, and unless you work at the powdercoat shop, too expensive.
These days there are better finishes that can be applied by the serious hobbyist- Guncoat, Dura-coat, Norrells MolyResin, CeraKoat, and Brownells has several.

what about on a AMD-65 ? where besides the gas tube release would it cause issues?
The local shop here wants to do one of mine for free for the advertising. They plan on using cera-coat. 1200 dgree ceramic header type paint.

powder coated a couple receivers, hav not finished building yet everything so far slides and fits after a little thinning.

I do powder coating but never a gun. Wouldn't the 400 degrees for half an hour mess up the heat treated parts?

Most heat treatments suitable for gun parts wouldn't be affected until you hit the 550 and up range.
