I'm noticing kit prices are coming down!

Centerfire dropped their PSL/FPK kit by $100 last week to $299.

Apex has kits for $245 with a barrel and Bulgarians for $200 w/o a barrel

and their milled Yugo frontbarrel assy is holding steady at a surprising $89.

PSL kits are already out of stock

That figures. I'd like to buy two. One to build as a PSL and the other as an AK-style rifle.

By the way, that should read as "out of funds so I can only dream right now".

I did buy a couple of the milled Yugo front barrel assemblies and hope to pick up parts, etc. by spring. I'm going to mill down the stubs to serve as trunnions in a regular AKM receiver. The rest of the parts will probably be Romy in origin. However, it sure would be neat to build just one with the some of the slick yugo wood that Ironwood is turning out.

i have a yugo rpk that i built out of a centerfire $119 kit back in the day.ground down the stubs and did a weld build.fun cheap shooter.

not coming down enough!
im into 3 new kits this week to the tune of $900 :O!!!!
idle hands apparently go straight to auction sites.
just waiting on Curtis to finish the new yugo flats :)

I'm hoping they keep coming down LuzRD. I sure agree that they still seem high - especially compared to what we were paying in pre-2007. $88 for an off-the-top Romy G kit. Them were the days :-)

Well I had to make a move on another cetme..ORF has them at 80.00 less barrel right now. To go for any AK's it will have to be something real special..I like the EG kits, but not with them being sanitized.

LuzRD
how are the cetme builds?
how would you guys compare a cetme to a fal as an overall rifle?
id like a .308 but the cost of ammo and needing new mags and accessories keeps me from it, but an $80 kit and cheap mags may make the difference.
im not sure if id like cetme or fal

The_Weasel
Still not as inexpensive as my last build... finally got around to building that matching #'s $75.00 Tapco AMD-65 kit.

A cetme is a rifle unto itself pretty much. I had an interesting learning curve on the first one...The flat is the biggest challenge, but is not such a mystery once you figure out what is required to make it work smoothly...The concept of head space is somewhat different than others in that it is not really adjustable by moving the barrel in or out...Bolt gap is the big word with roller delayed blow back.

The model C and the HK G3 are identical in function with many parts capable of being swapped between them. Most cetmes have been ridden and put away wet for years unlike the G3's, so it requires more effort to bring them into spec. Both make fine rifles, albeit heavy, when finished correctly with good accuracy, reliability, and little recoil. These are a worthy project for a home builder with patience and persistence.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I felt a need to give an answer to the question.

Reload, case deflector, good brass, BSE are all key words.

well I think they need to go down lower right now I can buy a already made Romy underfolder for 330.00. I like buiding them and have a pistol build here to finsh but I want be buying kits to they get lower.

Just picked up a Bulgarian ak-74 for 250.00 at TGI with the AK Forums discount. Nice looking kits. Picked up Mags for 10 bucks as well. TGI got a few back in stock.

All you guys with milled kits, Lancaster is making their own milled recievers so don't butcher them up just yet
