Wife and I had one of those "heart to hearts".... Bad husband, bad man, bad bad bad you, pretty much. I put up a good fight. Told her accusing me of all this is not going to gain her anything... Let's communicate, express your feelings, when you point, there are 3 fingers pointing back... Oh well, so much for some truly good therapy that even I believe in... So much for learning the simple technique of "I feel _____" then "I am _____"... If you can put a word in both blanks and it still makes sense, then you're expressing a feeling not BLAMING and insulting....

She got on the "laptop and GunThread/AK files" tangent... So, I asked her if she "wanted this old '99 Inspiron laptop," in a stern voice of course.. She says "What?" w/ that "penis in the forehead" look... I said AGAIN,"You want this laptop???" She said "no"... I promptly walked into the garage and destroyed it w/ my pick axe... You shoulda seen the look on her face, and the dogs...;)

No more BS laptop excuse... She had to give up her "newspaper" subscription(s).. Local rag and Journal... I won this one baby, Oh yeah... She's going to explode after a little while... And I will too w/o a piece of ass.. But then I'm married and practicing that for bout 6-7 years...

No more free muscle for a little while...Still love her, but man, why is one question my engineering brain CANNOT figure out... Must be horomones or plumb ignorance...

Stay single unless you're absolutely sure it's the rite one boyos, really.. Better to be alone at Christmas and Thanksgivig than to be, err, "happily" married... Ahemm....

Went to the counselor tonite and wife let me have it w/ both barrels concerning(pause w/ drum roll), ALL MY WEAPONS.... Well, as she blathered about them being here, there, everywhere, don't like them, danger to boys, wah wah wah, it took every ounce of viceral fortitude to not break out lauging hysterically at her display of oppression, whimpering, and whining.... I have to give it to my counselor, whom is a man. He did not complain or "take her side" on the gun issue... He actually said to be safe(that's a given w/ kiddos) and then said go buy another safe.... VOILA.... a Man counselor who thinks like one, couldn't believe it... But......

Well, the idea is to save my marriage/make it work, so compromises were struck... I'm probably going to have to hold at the current number... But that is fine... I will have to sell one to buy another, but that is fine too.... I will be left w/ a skeleton of available weapons to use in my immediate defense of the house, but it will be no fewer than the G21, G23, and Mosberg 590, Redcon 1 minus(and still as safe for kids to be around as they were BEFOREHAND damn it!!!).... Basically as far as guns go now, I will be gathering and winning this battle w/ "she who is to be obeyed" metaphysically...

If she's got your ass in counselling, and she's pulling the "guns in the house kids not safe" card, you better examine her motivations. ie; who's she humpin'? What is here end game? I would move a good number of the more prized guns and hand tools to a trusted friend's house for a year or so. Start a stash of emergency cash and make friends with a good attorney. Maybe nothing's up, but it doesn't hurt to emulate the Boy Scout Motto, "Be Prepared".

I can't say that I have seen counseling be very effective much of the time. It seems to generally be a sign that at least one of the parties is pretty much done with the marriage.

Then as I told the counselor(counseling was "our" decision, I promise) I felt like laffing out loud, I then said it was the "flavor of the month"... 8 weeks ago, disrespectful like old man is to Mom, 4 weeks ago, I don't do anything around the house.... Wah, wah, wah... Well, his compromise and what she agreed on was new safe and sell a few... Again, I was quite upset she actually played this card, to the point of laffing in her face, but I came out under circumstances. The lack of faith in me to manage this asset and its safety.. That pissed me off... She thought I was OBSESSED w/ weapons... I said I collect them... WHO here isn't collecting... Obsession or not!!!!!!

BUT! Had EVERY intent on selling bout 4-5 weapons I have now to fund family vacation. There were guns slated to leave the nest... SIG 556 and an AK for sure. Now, a NEW SAFE(direct suggestion from counselor, bless his man soul). So, I can't complain given the circumstances...

But it's never this easy med to long term...

She has a FIT every time I say something like that or threaten an option OTHER than putting up w/ her CRAP... So she's got an "F"ing great plan going(not smart enuf and no time to show empirical data for this) or as I told counselor guy(who's a real friend after his awesome suggestion), flavor of the month. This "Flavor of the month" thing maybe a product of menopause, frustration, WOMANHOOD(I'm guessing combo of all but ostly last), basically unable to deal w/ what this devolving society has handed women, artificially I might add.... Responsibility, unlike any they were EVER designed to handle...
