I just heard these can't be imported anymore because of a lawsuit with HK. Can someone confirm this?

Yep, GSG settled with HK and quit making them. HK said the "look" of the MP5 was their intellectual property and GSG used it without permission. Since the MP5 and it's "look" is a direct decendant of the German government owned G3 design which is in turn a "product improved" version of the Spanish CETME rifle, I'd say they would have had a hard time proving they owned anything.

I could have sworn they advertised it as "HK Licensed"

Here's the lawsuit.

So is the value going to shoot up in a few years?

I hope so, I still have one NIB!

AIM is out of stock

Thats because the MP5 is still in production. HK no longer produces the G3 which is probably why PTR is still able to produce the rifle because they don't have to pay licensing fee.

I have seen some gsg's on arfcom - 500 range.
I cannot see them ever having collector value...but who knows. My concern would be parts if mine takes a dump.

PTR has licensed machinery IIRC or its stuff they bought from the Germans.
