View Thread: Front trunnion rivet protruding

amd65
One of the rivets that holds the front trunnion in place is slightly protruding out so that it might block me from getting the barrel in. What do you guys do when you have this problem? Do you just shove the barrel in and say screw it? I can't get the damn thing to smash down any more. Could I remove some of the material from it. What tool would be best to get in there without scratching the inside of the trunnion? Any advice is appreciated. Thank You.

Dremel is the likely choice. Use a small stone bit.

If you mashed it as far as you can there's plenty of material there. It won't hurt a bit to grind some off to where you've got clearance.

I have demilled more than one AK where I found that this is precisely what they did over in commie land. A dremel will take care of the problem quickly.

Don't forget you have to use a Commie stone !.. They are available on the black market , mostly in dark alleys for about a U.S.dollar .. :D

Ive found that the dremel with the barrel sander attachment works best for me on those.

+1 on the Dremel.

Maybe get shorter rivets for your next build or at least figure out why this one stuck out on you.
