Newbie Welder

So I have never welded anything before but I am am pretty good with my hands and following directions. I have two projects that I am working on. The first is an Ak build and the second is a Sagia 12 conversion.

With the Sagia I would like to weld some HK sights on and with the Ak I need to weld the rails to the receiver.

I have looked around online but I cant find any real direction on how to do it.

Can any of you guys with some experience point me in the right direction.

Cant help on the HK sights (never done one) but the lower rails for the AK, I can

You can either spot weld them in or use rosette welds to attach the rails.

For rosettes you would find the positions for your rails, mark them and then drill holes thru the reciever only where the welds to hold the rails in would go.

Reposition the rails back into proper place, clamping them in and then plug welding holes(rosette) securing the rails.

You would then grind the welds smooth.

All welds are done from the outside of the reciever not inside.
