View Thread: little trick for the 1.6mm flat top rails

cymax
i found while building with a 1.6mm flat that i bent my slef, that if draw file the top rails before timing them, u can accurately remove enought material to make the front and rear trunnion groves slide in. make sur to measure the thickness of the rail often.

in my case my flat was bent to keep the internal dimensions
i will need to get longer axis pins for the hammer and trigger

no homemade bent flats 4130 .063 thick
the idea came to me as i was looking at midway's youtube post on how to draw file and octagonal barrel

?? Did you use a template and cut and form depresseion yourself or send out for lazer cutting??

So as you draw the file down the metal you bend it to form. Reducing and bending at the same time. Hints for this operation while the flat is in the bending jig.

Any info or pictures would be GREAT!!!

I was thinking of the old style yugo U.F. flats they had. What design of jig did you use?
