View Thread: Yugo BHO mags... (from APEX)

So I ordered 4 of these from APEX, after I read on the forum that they had them for $13 bucks. I wanted to have them for my M70 UF. The response and shipping time from APEX was great to say the least, I will definitely do business with them again.... BUT
Can someone please explain to me the benefit, if any, of having one of these mags?? Is it just to let you know when the mag is empty? Doesnt the point when the BANG BANG BANG stops do this for you? When you pull the mag out the bolt shoots forward anyway, I guess I am just a little dissapointed with them.
I will be keeping them either way, but felt the need to rant a little bit.

Yeah your right, BHO can seem a little lacking in the glamour of it all but I like the convience of having the bolt locked open and can visually confirm for safety reasons.

Knowing your empty BEFORE pulling the trigger IS A BIG DEAL.

knall, but in full auto when there is no more BANG BANG, then the clip is dry...

If you have a FA then :
A: I hate you.
B: Mag cost is the least of your worries
C: I wanna hang out.

hahahahaha! i wish i had a FA! i probably wouldnt be on this forum, id be outside in my backyard(1000 acre field, etc) shooting the gun...
but im just trying to figure out the point. now if the bolt would stay open when the mag is dropped out that is a totally different thing. just like a DA handgun...
cheers

FA fire DOES NOT NEGATE this fact. It is why I load 5 rds, a tracer and then fill up the mag. Some like the idea, some don't. For me a single tracer rd is less of a danger to me than an empty weapon that I don't know is empty.

any reason its 5 rounds then a tracer? i understand that it gives you a cushion of knowing its time for a new mag but you can still fire a few more if you needed to? but any reason its 5 specifically?
thanks

There's no real advantage. The US forced NATO to adapt specs at the end of 1961 that included, bolt hold open after last round, brass case ammunition, integrated 22mm rifle grenade launcher and a few other things. Somebody in charge of improving Yugoslavian weapons thought that if NATO spec'd it, it must be a good idea. The bolt hold open is useful on rifles that can be charged with stripper clips. In the desert it allows a lot of sand to be blown in to the action. The H&K G3 doesn't have a bolt open after the last round. Europe does have a longer than NATO 22mm rifle grenade that is used by Austria and Switzerland and was used by other European countries before 1961. H&K did shorten their flash hider for the shorter US / NATO 22mm rifle grenade in 1962. FN made a flash hider shorter than the Austrian Stg-58 one in 1964.
