Why doesn't someone post about a new build using JB Weld and screws?

How about replacing the barrel with PVC pipe and Goop?

Receivers out of tinfoil covered cardboard?

Anyone ... anyone??? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? ....

....sigh....

illhave some more in my pistol build thread tomorrow hopefully, im gonna try to get the lower rails welded in and the bottom of the receiver welded up

southern boy
somebody post that "toothpicks instead of rivets" pic again, that always starts a nice discussion.

I installed some inner rails with gorilla glue.

Still waiting for the gorilla to show me how the test firing went? :small_gri

EASY BUILD

8 Hours from kit to range!

Assumption: You have all the parts you need. (A demilled kit and a few tools)

1. Go to home Depot. Get some flat stock and some angle stock and a bunch of nuts, bolts and washers.

2. Go home. Make grasshopper jig. Bend flat. Bend top rails. Trim top rails. Heat treat holes. JB weld in rails (use 5 minute stuff)

3. Drill holes and tap holes in front trunion and rear trunion.

4. JB weld on rails is now cured. Drill and tap 4 holes in each rail/receiver. Install screws. Use loctite. (The "button head" ones are the coolest!) Grind off screw flush on the inside.

5. Screw in triger guard. (Don't get that little thingy plate upsidedown)

6. Screw all remaining parts together. Paint all metal parts with exhaust manifold paint. Put in oven at 350 for 30 minutes.

7. Have lunch. (ok, late lunch)

8. Assemble inards. Make sure it all works "good enough".

9. Head out to range (or backyard or back 40) and have a "blast".

Nothin' to it! It's a "piece of pie" - "easy as cake"

Im making a carbine out of a YUGO SKS. I've got an AK74 in the works too.

Someone should make a lost wax mold for a cast AK reciever. Then we can all cast our own AK recievers. Make em compatible with the sheet metal front trunions and eliminate the need for a rear truntion by casting in the rear mount. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

And for that matter, why not a milled aluminum reciever? Could work. The possibilities for disaster are endless.

mrkrinker
where's the link to the guy who made a wooden ar15 receiver? then he made one out of some kinda plastic.

found it. who's doing the ak ?

Matt AKA Turbothis Melded a PSL and a Yugo kit to handle the 54. It is on GB now. I once asked if there would be interest in a 16" that could accept 25 round mags in a 16" barrel.

Bubbajj
the barrel on my PSL carbine is from a nagant.

I'm not certain just why ...

but ...

ALL the forums on the AK Files slow WAY down when Dancing With The Stars is on TV.

Its been that way for the last three years now.

You could look it up.

Ive been tinkering with builds lately, tryn to get going again as Im not short kits to build. I just never see the point in posting shit like "Hey guys, here is how you locate front trunion holes on the 8th rommy build you do", ya know. If I get into anything wild I'll post but the only time I ever post here is to either throw props to an experienced builders new creation or to answer a newbies question they failed to search first.

ruckstar
How about a Sten using a pvc pipe for a receiver? :laugh_sma

CPO TOMG - you're right. I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it :-)
