bone dry??? or drop / wipe some oil in all the nooks & crannies?

on any AK build??

not including the fcg / action... I'm talkin about ?external preservation?

I've just used a can of spray cleaner...on my m-76... so it is pretty dry.....I was wondering about the application of oil to generally protect the joints and spots where water or humidity could penetrate and not be easily removed...

if there was capillary action occuring with water and the joint between the gas block and the barrel, front sight, receiver and trunnions..or under the side scope rail

I'm thinking some motor oil 30 or 50 weight? (not in gas tube, port, hole areas...more for external protection from elements?

anything right? but don't leave it dry dry?

I just use CLP when I clean it, wipe things off, and then put white lithium grease on the rails, bolt, and bolt carrier every so often.

you kit building guys clean them after bluing?? do you dip it into a wd40 mix ??? or something?

I've had lubriplate on the rails of my AES-10b and it runs like a hooker in a panty raid...for the last 1000 rounds that is....

My favorite ever since I discovered the stuff is Rig Universal Grease.

I use it inside and out, apply it with a brush on the out side of the gun and with a swab (Q-tip) on the rails and trigger group.

I run my new to me rifles well lubricated, it makes a hell of a difference on the action, much smoother to cycle by hand.

The local Academy store has it at .88 cents before tax.

I like WLG because I can drag my rifle through my and grit, fire 800 rds, and it doesn't clog up with gunk.

FWIW, on the bolt, carrier and rails. I have an old pound of Garand grease that I use in the summer months. In the winter I use white lubiplate. I also use CLP on the exterior.
