View Thread: Scope for my AK74

I've been thinking awhile about getting a side scope mount such as the one Kalinka Optics is offering with a Weaver-style rail. However, I can't afford a $200-300 genuine Russian scope. Are there any decent scopes out there that won't break the bank, preferably variable power scopes in the 3x-5x range?

I bought a POSP 4x24 with the 400 meter rangefinder from EastWave Optics a month ago for less than $200.

It had the standard side rail mount on it though...

How is it? Are the optics good? Can you get a good check weld with it? I heard it sits off to the left. Pics?

I like it. It's built very well, and has a nice illuminated reticle for low light shooting. Can't compare it to other optics, as this is my only scope, but it works well for what I use it for.

Cheek weld is no problem. I shoot lefty, so I was a bit concerned about that since the scope is offset on the siderail a bit to the left, but found it isn't an issue.

They picture the scope in gray, but mine is black.

Also, if you're interested, there is a really good thread about AK optics here:http://www.ak47.net/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=56&t=121932

It was a big help in me deciding which scope to buy...
