View Thread: Romanian WASR Underfolder
Bascot
I have been wanting a milled AK for a while, and I have a neighbor who has been pestering me to buy my 45 ACP. I was thinking about selling the Romy AKM underfolder, with 3 mags, 2 Polish 3 mag pouches, bayonet, oil tin, and both the original black composite grips and a wooded Bulgarian foregrip with matching composite pistol grip. What would be a reasonable amount to expect for this combination? I paid $450.00 to $500.00 for it new several years ago, and have shot 1000 rounds or so through it.

The WASR underfolder you have pictured is a bastardized Centrury Arms version of an AK47.
Bascot, the WASR UF you have, do you have any pics?

Agree but most people see this and thats all they think any Romanian is worth, trust me I know. You try to explain the difference but give up shaking your head.

It's a shame to, I have a Khyber Pass built on Romanian G kit. No way I'd ever give it up @ 400-500 bucks. I'll never give it up, but the point being the "Romanian" name has been a bit smeared. And in my opinion its because of Century Arms. They really ought to fire there CEO's and hire people in the know.......

Has anyone really got a bad WASR from Century in the last year? Since the 10/63s have come out, I've had 3 and they've all been decent, the newest one I got for $380 from AIM is exceptional (maybe the best AK I've ever had including my converted Saiga).

It's not there "bad" per say, its that they don't exactly exhibit the quality's of the higher end AK's. Some of the Century builds dont have matching parts, alot of them have an over-abundence of American made parts etc etc. I understand they shoot, and shoot as about as acurately as an AK can shoot, but they're just not on par with some of the other companys that build AK's. Normally I dont buy AK's from some of the major companies. I'd rather buy the kit and put it together myself or have someone else put it together. This way you can get the exact specifications your looking for in your own personal AK.........

I think it is a Century. The Hellfighter light/laser is not included. I was hoping for $400.00, so perhaps I'll ask $450.00.

It's a WASR. Honestly, for that money, why not just buya Yugo UF from J&G? You can even get your own parts kit from Apex for a real Romy UF and assemble it all for around $500 yourself.

BTW, this rifle does not have the side mount for a scope. It's not printed very deep, but says: CP WASR 10/63UF on the left side.
I originally wanted the Russian traditional stamped AK as sold by Atlantic which has dropped to $940.00 from $1,000.00 and has the red Russian wooden furniture. Then I handled some Norincos at the gun show. An underfolder was $1,200.00 and they had one MAK 90 for $700.00, both with milled receivers.
The Yugos certainly are an option, but first I am going to sell the two guns and see how much I can come up with.
Somewhere down the line I'll buy either a Colt 1911, a ParaUSA or blow a wad and get the Kimber in 45ACP (I have about 1,000 rounds...).
