Have u used your rifle in a SHTF scenario?

Have you ever had to use your rifile in a SHTF scenario? If so, I would like to hear your stories.

Give it a little more time. The bottom is just about to fall out of the barrel. Should be alot of good stories to elaborate on,......being you live through the onslaught.

The closet I've come was when my dog tree'd a prowler in the back yard. I'm not sure which was more funny, a grown man in a tree crying for help or the fact that he had shit himself.

Guatemala was a hell of run. Ever try to fly a plane fifty feet off the ground while dropping packages and being shot at by Federales? Yah, me neither.

Got followed by some really bad dudes in the AZ desert, hunting coyotes (4 legged kind) miles from nowhere. I passed them on a dirt road, and they were all 3 staring at my blonde wife, and I half expected trouble. I made a couple of turns on purpose, they followed but hung back thinking I would not notice. After the 4th turn, I parked my SUV in a wash, handed my wife the Mini-30 with a 20 round magazine, and told her if she heard shooting and I did not come back, it was going to be up to her to defend herself. I waited for them behind a bush, and when they came up to the wash, stepped up to the rear right side of the vehicle with my L1A1 and cocked it. I was also dressed in camo, and had my facemask on, and told them in Afrikaans the equivalent of F O or die. English wasn't their native language either... :mad:

If any of them even stepped out of the vehicle I was prepared to rock and roll and deal with the consequences later, but I think I caught them so unprepared, and a masked man with an assault rifle was probably more than they expected, the driver just slammed the beat up pickup truck in reverse, and got the fark out of there. Actually pretty comical, the driver demolished a bunch of creosote bushes swinging his truck around, and the dust trail he left behind looked like the roadrunner being chased by Wily E Coyote.. It probably would have put the fear of hades in me too! :D

These were bad dudes, they had on big white cowboy hats, looked like the messican mafia, and they were cruising for trouble, not a bunch of orange pickers. I am pretty sure they had guns in the vehicle, and that's why I picked the fight on my terms. As it was, nobody got hurt, and I am sure the next time they were a little more cautious looking for a victim.

The southern neighbors had a habit of picking fights with me for no fault of my own, except that I am pretty dark skinned from years and years of playing tennis and outdoor actvities, and a friend told me I looked Cuban and the messicans hate Cubans. I had to pull a Glock 26 on 3 little teenage gangbangers trying to rob me coming out of a Walmart, and a couple of years before I almost shot 4 of them in a pickup truck that bumped me from behind on purpose, and when I threw a full can of soda out of my sunroof and hit their windscreen, they took exception and followed me up a dead end street, except I intended for them to end up dead... Same story, did a reverse J turn my police buddies in South Africa taught me, and exited my Pathfinder with an M1 carbine. The instant "Oh chit" on their expressions reminded me of some coyotes I shot 2 or 3 yards from me when they figured out it was a human, not a dying rabbit!

All the fans in my neighborhood are on the ceiling. :uhoh_smal Seldom does the $hit get up that high to "hit the fan". Pretty quiet here.
Now I have been known to cap a squirrel or rabbit in the back yard with my pellet rifle though.

I have used my rifles to "keep the peace" in my peaceful neighborhood, but nothing I could really qualify as "S" in the SHTF original question.

I have had to rely on firearms many times to keep my skin covering my ass.

When one twists Gaston Glock or one of the great John Moses Browning's love children in to the face of the adversary, one is amused but rarely suprized by the visage of the thwarted "predator". However, there is generally an all together different reaction when you are sighting down the length of an AK or FAL!!!

The scavangers do respect the MBR....

I was pulling security during a flood back in the 80`s When two guy`s got in a fight over a sandwich in one of the refugee center`s. I was about to use the butt of my M16 to shut them the hell up when they got the hint. Thats the closest I have come, but I can tell ya one thing

Nope.., just a tacticool Chinese air rifle for backyard SHTF on squirrels and rabbits.

Just noticed the recoil pad! does it kick much

rimfire was involved but centerfire saves the day.

My dad and two friends went out west of Miami to do some plinking at a canal named C-19....

they break out the .22s and start shooting at the water, and the opposite bank with trash on it etc.....

during this plinking session Bob flinches and grabs his abdomen...and the question of a bee sting is raised by someone....then the vehicle guardrail they were shooting next to starts getting hit with .22 rounds....you know how that sounds maybe....Tink!.....

they don't know who or from where the fire is coming from but assume it's coming from the other side of the canal bank.

at this point B is laying on the ground and slipping into unconsciousness. Dad and the other guy are trying to be smaller than the guardrail....with sporadic fire still coming in....

Dad makes it back to the hatchback of the car and removes the ruger mini-14 30 or 20 round clip........ta da!!!...his words were something to the fact that he raised a big cloud of dust on the other side of the canal.

police show up.....confiscate all the weapons......especially the .22s.....Dad's upset becasue there's no ambulance and Bob is still unconscious....

lot's of standing around....and questions while Bob passes.

Never found anything regarding the shooters.....Dad offered a reward in the area but nothing....eventually he sent a letter to Ruger thanking them and that he was lucky to own one and have it on hand.....and they sent a nice response.

Was wasting time on the computer one Saturday night when I heard several gunshots that seemed to come from the front yard. I heard another few and decided to go out and blast the poor SOB that came into my yard firing guns. Told my mother to call the police while I chambered a round in the AK and went out and began a sweep of the yard. Not SHTF after all, but some idiots up the block illegally shooting beavers at night in a creek. Their property is about 200 yards away and I guess they were using high powered rifles, because it sounded like it was right outside my door.

ALL THE TIME W/ SHOTGUN IN CRUISER,

LATEST NON-SHOTGUN WAS 2 ARMED ROBBERS RUNNING THRU NEIGHBORHOOD... ARMORED UP AND STARTED CLEARING CRAWL SPACES W/ SIG 556... DEF TACTICAL TIMMY STUFF BUT WAS NEAT AND WAS A GOOD "READY CHECK" UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES... NO BIGGIE THOUGH. THE FELLAS WERE CAUGHT IN A DUNMPSTER BOUT MILE OR 2 UP THE ROAD... REAL TUFF GUYS THEY WERE...
