View Thread: WHO ordered a half-price Arsenal AK from KVAR?
TedG954
There was a show on the Military Channel or the History Channel a couple of years ago that showcased Arsenal AK47s. They threw one in the mud, drove a truck over it and totally abused the rifle. Still wet, they fired a full magazine through it. I have owned ARs, and Mini14s and never even thought about an AK. Until that show. I was hooked.
I started to research and found that Arsenal AKs were $1000. Whoa! Then I read about Saiga and I converted my own rifle. It came out great but by then, I was attracted to the Polish Tantal. I found an Interarms Tantal, sold the Saiga, and became a happy camper. Now, KVAR cuts the Arsenal prices in-half! This was the rifle that started it all (for me).
I ordered a 21 on line 30 minutes after reading the notice from KVAR. I figured it was a limited time offer with a limited amount of rifles. I wanted mine. After receiving the notice of receipt, I felt secure in knowing I had ordered my Arsenal rifle.
Then, the next day, I called to find out if they would email me when the rifle shipped. They told me the order was being held up because they needed my FFL's license. Held up???? Will I be passed over and miss out on this opportunity? All the rifles have been allocated? I felt faint. My mind raced.
I immediately called my FFL and they said they would fax KVAR. Would they? Would they? Will it be in-time? How will I know? I called KVAR in the afternoon. "Yes", they received the fax. Whew!
I received the UPS ship confirmation this morning. My SGL21 is on the way. I'll pick it up next Tuesday. I got one. Now, I'll never have to buy another gun ever. (Ha ha ha)

Hit it with high temp grill paint, or only use CLP, to spare your finish. Even then, you'll have to get it re-done after a serious weekend of training. Arsenals have many virtues, their paint over park finish isn't one of them.

They sent me an email yesterday after I asked them if I could give them half payment now and half later and they wouldnt. Anyway, they mentioned there only going to be at these prices for about a month, then there going to of course raise there ridiculous prices back through the f'ing roof.......
maxhush
I just called K-Var to make sure they had received my email with the scanned transferring FFL as a PDF attachment. They had, once they checked while I was on the phone, but they don't seem to really look at their email right away (too busy). Because I called in, they went and checked and linked the emailed FFL up to my order so it will move along now, having gotten past that hurdle. I asked when it might ship, which brought a wry chuckle. They are swamped with orders for them and are hoping to get mine out by maybe Friday. I don't know if I'd expect these sale prices to last an entire month. They said they'll send me a shipping notification when they do (in my previous non-FFL K-Var orders, maybe 1/3 of the time I did not receive a shipping notice). I asked if I will for sure get one, and the reply was "yes". If you want one, I wouldn't do the BHO dither about it, and if you do order, I'd be sure to call them to be sure they have found and filed your FFL info so that your order is not sitting around on hold (while they're busy completing my order) awaiting their eventual discovery of your FFL info (at least if you email it, rather than FAXing it, and I'd still check even if you FAX it, were it me).
JSPAG138
My point being, enjoy it while it lasts.
KVAR will raise the prices, and there going to do it soon. Or claim to have "run out of stock" and wait a few weeks to JACK THE PRICES THROUGH THE F'ING ROOF
I dont know if any of you received an email from Arsenal Inc. It claimed they were going to start lower prices, across the board on parts and guns. Well, a few bucks here and there for the most part but the prices will go back through the roof......
Lysander
What K-Var is doing is trying to get rid of stock that they were unable to move at ridiculous prices during the panic. Once that's gone, and they import stuff at the "new" price, the taxes they'll pay on their inventory won't be as high, and they'll have turned a tidy profit to boot.
It is what it is, I suggest anyone interested take full advantage of it.

Anyone who thinks this price is will stay here long is crazy, jump on it while you still can.

Yeah my point is I'm broke and I always miss out on these types of deals. I still kick my self in the ass everyday when I passed up a Polytech Legend Double Underfolder at my local gunstore for $1000 back in 2005. The "preban" concept hadn't really sunk it at that point.......

Other than a 2 stage trigger & the name, what exactly makes an Arsenal so much better than a Lancaster w/ a better finish. Not trying to dis`em, just wondering.

I just bought a converted Saiga with a Russian sling for $555 shipped! I don't care if its Arsenal, Henderson, Lancaster, any of those guys do good enough work to be worth more than that! I couldn't buy the furniture and flash-hider for less than $200. This is the best deal in AKs that I've ever seen (considering the inflation of recent years)
Fortis
It is a hellava deal. I was debating on buying one & selling the Lancaster but wasn`t sure if it would be worth the trouble. Resale value(though I wouldn`t sell it) would definitely go to the Arsenal. I guess at that price refinishing cost isn`t such a big deal & though I`m happy w/ the Lancaster, the grass is always greener...damn grass. I`d have both if I could but the safe is full & the wallet`s getting lean.

Too bad the SAM - 7 Classic isn't part of the half-price sale....

$1,550.00 down to $775.00 on a milled receiver AK would have me hopping!

I went with the OD because I've never had one, the verdict is out right now, but I have a set of plum to put on so no worry.

I took my new Arsenal SLG21 to the range on Saturday. I had some concerns because the test target that came with the rifle wasn't very impressive... 2 shots approximately 6" apart at 25 meters.
I fired a total of 5 magazines (150 rounds) without a single hick-up. The trigger will smooth out in time. The $9.95 steel mags from AIM worked perfectly. The TULA ammunition went off every time I pulled the trigger.
As for accuracy, I was very pleasently surprised. My eyes aren't the same as they used to be, and open sights can get blurry, but I have no complaints about this rifle. At 25 yards, my first group of ten was more than satisfactory. The second group of 30 rounds confirmed it. At 50 yards, the groups stayed within 6", and that's acceptable for me. I did not have to make any adjustments to the sights. They were already zeroed in.
Next range trip will focus (pun intended) on 100 yards.
I am extremely glad I bought this rifle. If you're thinking about one, don't wait too long.
(I could only post the 10-round group. The 30-round group pic is too large to post.)

My included target had what appeared to be 3 holes all touching 1/2 from the bullseye. My brother and I both bought one, we took his out shooting yesterday and it was a nice shooter. One thing I don't like is the so-called flash-hider allowed a bright white flash the size of a football, looks exactly like the flash from his un-modified Saiga! I have a $15 AK74 style flash-hider from AIM on my WASR 10/63 and it turns the flash dark red and only lets out about 2 inches of flash. My Yugo M70 with just slant-break was showing just a little red as well! I thought those were supposed to be high-dollar flash-hiders. Should he return it?

The real deal, the ones made in bulgaria, have no such issue :)

If my orders from them are typical, it'll still say "processing" for stuff you ordered and received months ago. I've not had any real problem getting them (I think it was "Sheila" I talked to for the SGL21) on the phone. I have had to bug them on some non-firearm orders they dropped the ball on, so I definitely keep tabs on my orders with them. The rifle order took over a week to receive. I did have to call to get them to make the connection between the email I sent, with my transferring dealers FFL and my order. Once I did that, it took them maybe three days from that point to get it packed up for shipping. I ordered on a Tuesday, and they shipped on a Friday, the order arrived the following Friday, so maybe 10-11 days total. I'd try calling them again, until you get through, to make sure something isn't hanging the order (them not prioritizing reading email had mine hung until I called and Sheila read the email and filed the FFL while I was on the phone).
BTW, when I checked several days ago, Atlantic was also selling some (not as wide a selection as K-Var) models of these for similar pricing.
TedG954
I don't know how everyone else's looks, but my SGL21 has a very good finish. The stampings are deep and the paint is even and smooth.

Were "if's" and "but's" candied nuts the world would be fat.

It's not a flash hider, it's an AK-74 style muzzle brake. The only other brake that will fit that rifle is the AK-133 FH from K-Var (http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16963&cat=289&page=1). My SLR-107FR came with that FH and it works every bit as well as the Phantom on my WASR, and is superior to the AIMR on my two Dracos (that has more to do with the short barrels, however). Just keep an eye on your parts count. I'm waiting for the SGL-20 I ordered as my brother's "welcome home" gift to arrive, but I've already started accumulating the everything I need to turn this into an excellent shooter.

These guys will do layaway.

I ordered both a SGL21 and a SLR106 with metal triangle sidefolder during this sale. Funny thing is, when this sale started I wasn't in the market for either a 7.62 AK or a 5.56 AK. But this is one of those "you'll regret it if you don't buy" sales, so I had to jump on it.
The thought of getting an Arsneal 7.62 AK for $499 and an Arsenal SLR106 for $649 still has me smiling. I justified the purchases by telling myself that at these prices, the rifles will never decline in value below what I paid for them.
Combined with the inherent quality of these rifles, this sale has been the biggest no-brainer I can ever remember. In the future, anyone not buying one of these rifles will ask themselves, "What in the hell was I thinking, not buying a $499 Arsenal AK???"
trizz
true dat! i'm putting 2 762's on the card tomorrow!
TennVol
After reading all of the posts about these rifles, I bought two. Now, all I have to do is wait for them to be shipped!

Supposely K-Var has over a 1,000 of these coming in! That was on another web site. If so I need to get a least a couple of them.

http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct838.aspx
they won't do layaway on the sgl21 because atlantic is'nt making any money on them. they are only matching kvar's price because they are a distributor for em, therefore they have nothing to gain by dealing with the hassle of layaway when they won't make any more money doing so. i got this information from the guy i spoke with at atlantic yesterday. also, atlantic is currently out of stock of the sgl21 due to huge demand, but expecting another shipment in by tuesday.
when i asked him about the length of the sale and the quantity available he said he had no idea as kvar is keeping everyone in the dark about how long the sale will go on or how many more are available.
recon-1
No layaway? Crap! Tuesday I'll be calling them.
trizz
yeah, he almost made me feel like a dick for even asking lol.
sounds like they have moved a lot of them already. i would order direct from kvar, but from what i have read atlantic is a little better to deal with so i'll give em til tuesday. if they don't have em by then i'll have to go direct to kvar. there's no way i'm gonna miss out on this sale!

Do you guys know if K-Var does LEO discount? They don't answer the emails I have sent them.
squirrelblaster
thats strange i have emailed them like 4 times in the last month and they have answered every one...

I got one of the SGL21-61's for $499. Price is now $50 more, & the sale is supposed to completely end on Dec. 7th.
I had sold my last AK about a year ago. Then a deal like this comes along & sucks me right back to the dark side
Worst part has been having to stock back up on ammo & mags. At least prices are coming down & I just might be able to afford to shoot my new AK after all.
