Picked up a Feg sa2000m and wanted to ask here if other than opening up the mag well for the high capacity magazines, there is other concerns.
Of course I am going to install the needed USA made parts to comply with 922r.
The rifle looks in new conditions, looks just like this one

Thanks.

Check the bolt. I forget if it's the single stack Maadi or the Hungarian but one (or both) has a smaller lug on the bottom of the bolt and won't strip rounds from both sides of a double stack magazine.

Yea did notice that, I tried a few rounds out of a magazine and it fed OK, need to take it out to the range to make sure it will work alright.
Thanks.
PS. The trigger guard magazine catch assembly has a spacer that needed removal, for the magazines to seat properly and catch the mag.
There are also a tab next to each mag centering dimple that had to be ground down for the mag to seat deep enough, this was more difficult than opening up the mag well since you need to use a small grinding/cutting bit and the metal is tough (heat treated).
Oh yea almost forgot to mention there is a bump/dimple of sorts on the ejector that keeps some magazines from seating in all the way for the mag catch to engage.

Had to replace the bolt when I converted one.

Hope I don't have to replace it, I do have a spare from a AMD 65 kit.
Thanks for the heads up.:).

Took my new to me Hungarian FEG SA2000M to the range for a test run with the double stack large capacity magazine well opened up.
The rifle worked great no problems at all, did not need to change the bolt it fed good from both sides of the magazine.
I do need to work a little on the up/down magazine play.
Since it was raining rather heavy at times I did not set up targets and just blasted at the muddy berm 100 yards away. The rifle turned out to be a keeper accuracy wise, I was able to hit small rocks, point of aim with no adjustments :).
The new Tapco single hook trigger group felt just as good as the original Hungarian trigger.
Now I have to fit a scope to this baby to see what it can do group wise.

A quick question for you in the know. What is the differance between the FEG SA2000M and the FEG 85M also imported by KBI but stamped Made in Hungery. I BOUGHT ONE YEARS AGO in CALIFORNIA before the AWB and than registered it wheni lived there in 1990, So theoretically its still legal for me (just me, can never be transfered i was told) to own and shoot there. I left California years ago but since i got the rifle there i put a nice folding stock on it, plus some internals and a USA made handgrip. The bbl though is all hungarian and measures 16+ inches, Is this model still sold anywhere?

The SA-85m has a full size magwell.
There's usually a few on gunbroker, but the rifle is banned from import.

Look in here and you will see them both once you scroll down to the Hungarian rifle part.

AFAIK this rifles are not imported any more, I got lucky and found this one at a local Pawnshop.
Let me clarify that I am not in the know on this rifles, I just do a lot of research on line on rifles (AK 47/74 and or any other that catches my interest at the time) also on repairs, modifications as they apply to them so to stay withing the law.
As of late all kind of interesting things are coming out at the P-shops worth of some research. Some times a wanted add in the local paper bring in stuff you would other wise could not find, best of all you can see and check personally.
Along this lines buyer beware currently there is a rash of people trying to rob/con people out of their money, by setting up sales at places where they can rob unsuspecting buyers. See article below.
