So...what is the word on these? Thinking about getting one as I have forever sworn off anything made by Century and would like some feedback. How do these compare to the Bulgarian Arsenal models? Do they take all standard AK mags? Pros/Cons?
Thanks,
Chris

They are top of the line I just don't want to spend close to a $1000 for an AK unless it's pre-ban.
nalioth
They're produced using only the finest snake oil.

just convert a $300 one...
Lysander
Except they're now $499. If I was looking for a good starter rifle, I'd buy one now.

...huh? centerfire has them for $350 ten bucks shipping. $150 in parts (what I spend) and you have a $520~ "Arsenal" with a little work on your part.

The deal is that K-Var now has them for $499, on sale, no conversion necessary:

It's unlikely they can be put together for less than that from the unconverted Saigas. And no muss no fuss.

holy cow what a deal! Man I wish I had 500$ that the wife wouldn't leave me over...

I read the notice from KVAR and almost didn't believe it, so I went to their site. It WAS true. I started to get dizzy. I switched it off and tried to occupy my mind but was driven back to the site by forces beyond my control. I couldn't pass it up. I ordered a SGL21. I had to. It called out to me... I'm only $518, shipped. Buy me. Buy me.
I built a Saiga conversion and it came out great, but there's no way you can build a Saiga like the SGL21 for $500. And these are dimpled receivers with flash hiders.
These same rifles were over $900 less than a year ago. I wonder how long the "sale" will last.

Holy cow! The furniture alone would cost $125! My $380 WASR 10 doesn't sound as good as it did when I bought it.

A Saiga SGL-21 would make a nice AK103 clone......Well not really a clone considering it has proof marks all over it. I'm def grabbing one in Plum warsaw......

I finally caved after calling earlier to ask a few questions about providing my transferring dealers FFL. Just online ordered an SGL21-72 a few minutes ago for $522 with shipping. I won't be buying *anything* (unless I sell something at a show this weekend) til January now and I'll be eating out of the freezer and cans, but it had to be done....plum, NATO furniture too ($6 more for the NATO length stock version)....it was just too much to resist. So, sell those extra kidneys, sell some blood, and order up. :sidegrin_

Hmmmm.... just think how good that creamed corn will taste as you gaze through the candle light at that beautiful Arsenal AK sitting across from you..... priceless.

It's taking the accusatory glares from the cats as I chow down on their food that'll be the hard part, but we all gotta make sacrifices.....

I literally could not believe the price slash! I know a guy up here who just purchased this exact same model locally for over $1,000! :-( Anyway, I could not resist the opportunity to finally buy an Arsenal AK...so I just called KVAR and ordered one with plum furniture and a Russian sling. I have never really been a fan of plum, but these look really good and it will be different from my Yugo and of course my WASR, haha. I'm psyched to say the least. I would have never forgiven myself if these prices go back up soon.
