View Thread: AKS-74U kits?

scubyfan
Hey guys,

Other than conversions from other kits, were real AKS-74U kits ever offered or can they be found anywhere?

Thanks in advance!

KernelKrink
You're a little late. K-Var sold a lot of Bulgarian kits, now sold out. They still turn up on the auction sites and classifieds. Sticker shock might give you a coronary though.

Darn!

How much did it go for?

KernelKrink
IIRC, they started out in the mid $200s back when 5.45 ammo was hard to come by, once the ammo started coming in the prices started climbing steadily. IIRC, last ones they had were in the $700-800 range.

Jesus Christ!

I suppose I'll have to wait...

If you think that's bad, try pricing an RPK74:

Only $1500 plus shipping.

Doc, Code Blue in the Ak47 Forum, Code Blue in the Ak47 forum!

BTW, don't order if you just happen to have an extra $1500 laying around, ORF recently "restructured" and may not be selling any more.

Any purchase will have to wait anyway. :)

But thanks for the info, much appreciated.

To be honest your best bet is to buy a 106UR, Arsenal Krink in .223. These only need to be registered and the barrels chopped. On the plus side, if you haven't stacked 5.45 to the roof yet- then you can get ammo for decades to come.
