View Thread: New AK- sling question

rockhead
I just purchased a WASR 10-63. It came with the Tapco side-folder stock and plastic foregrip. I also came with a leather sling.
The issue is...how does the sling affix to the attach points?
The sling has a buckle on one end and a spring clip on the other. The buckle end will not fit through either attach point. So, is the sling incorrect for the rifle or is there a trick to how to use the sling?
The rifle itself is in good shape. Stripped it and cleaned it (not too much cosmo) and it came with the pillbox, a bayonet, frog and mag case. 1 Tapco 30 rnd clip.
The gas block and front sight post were both straight, it seems to be pretty nice.
Can't wait to get it out and fire it...

The sling will fit through the rear swivel at the buttstock and the buckle. You have to finagle it with the snap wring to get it through. As a last resort you can remove the snap wring by placing it over the opwen jaws of a vice and tapping it out of the smaller circle area to the larger. Then simply open the safety type catch with a small pliers and remove it. Attach the sling and then reattach the snap ring. This is not normally necessary.

Thanks, finagled and got it to work by popping the pin on the Tapco stock attach point and going that route.
Sling's alittle akward for a southpaw, but can live with it...
Using snap caps, the Tapco trigger is 10x's the trigger on my Saiga .308. Too bad Saiga couldn't have done better from the factory...
