View Thread: POSP 4-12x42 Zoom Scope w/German Post Reticle question.

OK, I'm getting ready to spring for my first PSL and have been doing a lot of research. I plan to get the rifle and replace the wood stock with one of the new adjustable polymer stocks and also replace the 4x scope.

My question concerns the scope. Since most of the shooting that I will be doing with the rifle will be at gun ranges and/or at extended fixed ranges I want to stay away from a reticle and aiming system that performs like the 1P21. My understanding is that when I increase zoom levels that these scopes compensate mechanically... Like the scope was making the assumption that I am shooting at something farther away and as such throwing my zero off if I am still shooting at something the same range away.

So with the standard reticle I understand how this works and while a neat system for hunting (or it's intended purpose) it will not make a good target scope for me. But Kalinka offers the POSP 4-12x42 scope with US Mil Dot or modified German Post reticles. These reticles would seem useless with a scope that is zero'd at a specific range; one that throws the zero off when you change the zoom. I also noticed that these have elevation and windage adjustments like a normal scope which you dial in your zero for any given range.
What's the deal, are these weird scopes with these reticals or do they function like a normal fixed scope and would be great for range shooting?
