9mm Bizon?

Has anyone built a semi-auto Bison or work-alike?

Lots of work I know to get the right setup.. shorten the bolt, etc and I think the real one is blowback unless someone can correct me.

Seems like it would be fun to make a rotary-fed 9mm AK. Anyone?

Pistol caliber yes.. Isveshk makes them in 9x18, 9x19, and 7.62x25 variants..

It only shares the AKS74 receiver, and that's shortened. There is no gas system, no piston. Blowback only. Wikipedia has a good article on it as does guns.ru

The mag is not a drum, it's rotary, as on the Calico. That one in the photo is a 64 rd mag.

I think it would be an interesting kit, although one would have to get around the buttstock or lengthen the barrel to keep it legal without NFA involvement.

Boy, would I LOVE to have one of these!!

I started doing a bit of research on them myself, and came to the conclusion that there will probably NEVER be any kits imported, so making one would entail cobbling together parts to do it. I envisioned one with a 16' barrel, but a fake suppressor shroud over the barrel length. Just wish I had the dough to make it a reality. Till then I'll just keep gathering parts.
I figured starting with an AK74 bolt and carrier, a custom folded shortened 74 reciever, Krink topcover and Bulgy triangle sidefolder, custom top handguard, as well as custom fitting a Calico 9mm rotary mag. It can/could be possible, but would take a LOT of work.
I have to look around a bit, I believe I have a few pics of one disassembled somewhere......

7.62x25mm would be ideal

good upwards of 125 meters probably. Fast little pill, that.

good penetration, good stopping power... a Bizon in 7.62 would be a great little truck gun

or in .45 ACP, .357 Sig, .40 S&W... :D
