View Thread: Yugo M-57 -vs- Cz-52
mmckown
I currently have a Cz-52 and due to the current cost of ammo am shooting it almost exculsively. I find the x25 round to be very interesting and plan on shooting it until the cheap ammo drys up. I currently have about 4k stacked and am planning on buying a tin every other month or so for the foreseeable future.
How does the M57 compare to the Cz52? Which design is stronger? I have smallish hands, is the grip circumfrance on an M57 the same or more or less than a CZ52? How does weapon reliabilty compare? Is there a source for additional mags for the M57?
Does anybody own both? I like to get your impressions on them...

I'm happy to report that I have a Yugo M57 and two CZ-52's. On the grip issue, the M57 has a great feel to it and it's longer than the regular Tokarevs so the grip does not feel a bit to short. The Yugo is also narrower and would fit a smaller hand better. As for the CZ-52, you can pick up some aftermarket wood grips, that if you are careful with a dremel tool, will fit your hand perfectly also. They are equally accurate and seem to have about the same recoil. As for long term ownership, you can obtain all the parts for a CZ 52 that you could ever want, but this is not so for the Yugo M57. Most believe that the Yugo type Barrel is a stronger design, than the CZ-52 because of the cam system on the CZ-52. A Yugo M57 is some what rare and not easy to find, so I would snatch it up if it is in good shape. The Yugo is about the only Tokarev I would have since it incorporates all of the upgrades that the Russian, Polish and Romanian do not. I hope this helps a little.

ditto... I have a blued cz-52, a parked cz-52, a romy tt-33 and the M57.
get the m57 a familyandfirearms.com...he's on surplusrifle.com
the yugo ammo at century is the best...hands down...buy $500 worth for the free shipping...

the tt-33 design has been said to be stronger because the roller mechanism cutouts on the cz-52 has made it's chamber thinner... ??
the cz-52 grip has sharper edges on the frame compared to the tt-33....so the peppy round is going make those edges bite...it does on my index
for the life of me I can't shoot any of mine as accurately as any other pistol I own... 44, 45, 38, 357, 9mm ...well it is close to my glock 27
I would get a Norinco tokarev...nicer saftey than the romy...mags are obtainable, you can get the $35 compensator and feel cool.
,,,lemme show you what I just picked up for $150 since my previous post:

I'm gonna snag one of those after XMAS to shoot the ammo that didn't barrel check on my CZ52 :laugh_sma
I love those bake on finishes..I just ordered some more black and parkerizing grey for some rusty mags I have
