Would anyone here know the value of a Romanian sar2 ak74 (2002).Also would a saiga in 5.45x39 be a quality rifle ?

The SAR-2 can be a nice shooter. It does have a narrower barrel in front of the gas block. The bolt and firing pin are unique. The extractor can be brittle but easily replaced with a Bulgarian one unlike it's other parts. The receiver is a good one and if the sights are straight it should shoot alright. The 5.45 Saiga has a standard AK-74 bolt and firing pin and standard diameter at the muzzle.

I recently bought a used SAR2 for $675 with 5 mags. Not sure if that's too much or too little, but I'm happy with it.

If you are happy, that is what counts IMHO!

I picked one up with four mags for $625. Added the 22mm FSB and will likely just sell it since I have to many already.

I also have a SAR2 and was wondering about putting a 24mm Bulgarian muzzlebrake and front sight. I noticed that the barrel of the SAR2 is skinnier in front. Will a 24mm muzzlebrake work, or will I need to look for a 22mm Romanian. Thanks for the help.

nobody knows about the 24mm muzzlebrake working on a SAR2?

You would have to get a Romanian 22 mm FSB and brake since the barrel OD is smaller than the Bulgarian. You cannot put a 24 mm FSB unless you find some way to shim the barrel....

OR

Thread the barrel to 14x1 LH and use a 14x1 to 24 mm adaptor ( K-Var sells them ) to install a 24 mm brake.

Thank you Graveman, that was the answer I was looking for.

I've got a SAR2 2003 model I just fished out and the end of the barrel mic's at .509", which is too small for 14x1. I remember some guys were using 1/2" threads and going with AR type brakes on their SAR2 as an alternative to changing out the FSB.
