View Thread: PSL Assembly

Does anyone here know of a source for information on the assembly and construction of a PSL. Particularly the attachment of the trunnion to the receiver. Any info appreciated. <Phil S.> epiphyte15@aol.com

It's the same as almost any AK pattern rifle. You have to pull the barrel, rivet the trunnion in place and then reinstall and headspace the barrel.

Thanks for the response. Is it necessary to pull the barrel in order to rivet the trunnion? I have sufficient machine tools in my shop but no head space gauges. Phil S. epiphyte15@aol.com

Some say that you can rivet against the barrel in place, but the general wisdom appears to be that it's not a good idea and the barrel should be pulled and the trunnion properly riveted in place. This is in an AK with the 7.62x39 which is a much less powerful round than the 54R.
If you want to go to the trouble of building a rifle, one that has good potential for accuracy, reliability, and longevity, I'd say do it right, the first time.
YMMV.

The thing is that I have a PSL that was assembled with the trunnion rivited out of square with the receiver. It operates flawlessly but I'd like to correct it. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
