View Thread: Cheap Mags

jlcasagranda
I have not seen a thread on the $13 mags at CF, so thought I would bring a good deal to your attention. Cheapest I have seen in a while, take advantage guys!

4 and a pouch +shipping for $60 can't beat it.

Dono,

were they the russian or the korean? I see that they are supposedly upgrading to the korean, which are new.

Given the reports on them that've circulated various AK(47) threads, you'd be far better off with beat up Russian mags than new Korean (Russian mags are much less common, the former eastern bloc mags are far more common, often can be obtained in near new condition, and are fairly inexpensive). Remember the old AK magazine adage/rule of thumb: Only buy AK mags from a country that issued AKs to their troops as their standard weapon. Korea did not (nor did the US). And as far as I am aware, Korea has not made AK-74 mags as yet (and if they did, I'd let several thousand other folks test them out before I invested in any, no matter how cheaply priced). The Bulgarian mags flooding in the country right now, the ones I have obtained from the reputable places like Copes, Apex, (probably AIM, I've not gotten any from them though), have all been in at least excellent, and frequently, like new or new condition.

They were the surplus metal eastern block 30 rounders. I ordered six. Three were very worn but no rust or major dings Of the other three two were pretty rusty and the other severely dinged up. I have more than my share of mags already so it was ok but I was a little disappointed. I still like Centerfire but it can be hit or miss with them sometimes.

I saw some new Korean mags at the gun show yesterday and they look nice but they just don't feel as solid as my Russian,Yugo or Hungarian mags.

Okay, color me confused. Are we talking about AK-74 mags here in the AK-74 forum, or about AK-47 mags? Or did I somehow miss that the Koreans are making AK-74 mags now?

jlcasagranda
we originally were talking about 74 and then it changed to the korean 47 mags

If you read through all 12 posts it will make sense to you. I promise. But yes his original question was about the ak74 mags. :ak47:

Jeepranch
AIM surplus has some good looking Polish Radom 74 mags, not familiar with them, but have heard good things.

What about the type 58's and 68's?

Were not these military issued weapons?

My understanding they were.

I think he meant TGI.

Haha.

The magazines under discussion, being imported and sold in the US, are from
South Korea. The Type 58 is the North Korean AKM, yes? And the Type 68, according to what I found, "Korea Type 68 is a North Korean version of the Soviet Tokarev" or a TT-33 copy. So, what did South Korea issue in large quantities to their military in the way of AKs (they may have, but not as far as I am currently aware)? Since South Korea are the ones selling mags here, not North Korea (I doubt North Korea would be allowed to market their mags here any time soon). Yeah, I didn't explicitly state South Korea, but the mags under discussion are the recently imported South Korean manufactured AK-47 mags, which I think you knew. If you have a source for North Korean mags, there might be folks here interested (or not, certainly not for quality so much as collectibility).

You said Korea.

It wasn't specified?

You lost my on the Tok?

Type 68 is AKM and 68B is folder

Well, let's discuss bi bim bab since it comes from Korea too, why don't we? I did a quick goggle of Type 68 and it only kicked back tok references. You gotta be specific, because you only said Type 68, not AKM Type 68, so what was I to assume? We can play this pointless game all day, and debate the meaning of "is", but it has nothing to do with what was under discussion in this thread and you know it. Now that you've had your fun, find a bridge, it looks like rain and I heard trolls melt like MacArthurs park cake icing in a downpour.

Of relevance to the thread (even though the Korean mag portion of the thread itself is actually somewhat mislocated in the AK-74 forum), has anyone heard of good experiences with the South Korean imported AK-47 magazines? Why would anyone purchase them when there seem to be a fair amount of of former Eastern Bloc AK mags on the market with similar pricing and a much more well-established reputation for reliability and durability?

Stop your fucking back pedaling whining and be SPECIFIC next time.

You know, I wrote a lot more in response, about concepts like "context", but it just isn't worth it, it isn't topical, and it doesn't add anything to the thread. Fine, I concede on the technical point, enjoy whatever satisfaction you get from that and let's let the thread get back to discussing the topic at hand (though it looks like everyone else dropped off, so this may be the end of the thread anyway).

(I've added you to my ignore list, please feel free to do the same for me, and that eliminates any future problems or thread detours).

Just received 2 mags from CenterFire. They're in excellent condition. Hard to beat for $34.00 including priority shipping.

I don't give a flying fuck what you wrote.

I'm writing this and WILL NOT go back and edit shit from it!

I was more than cordial and nice and you turn into a smart assed nasty little back pedaling bitch.

Kiss my ass.

There, ignore that, ass face.

Now that people have officially jacked my thread and turned it into a squattin match. I recieved the mags and they are in near perfect condition, come with the original bulgarian sticker and stamp, the pouch is in good condition and is bulgarian in origin as well. If you really want I will take some pictures.

Good to hear. I was on the fence about ordering some of these, but now that you've chimed in with this report, I think I will go ahead and pull the trigger.

It wasn't that long ago that 74 mags were very hard to come by. Hopefully people learned their lesson, and will stock up now that these are available again, and are relatively inexpensive. (I say "relatively", because I remember the days when you could get these mags for $5!)

Deek57
I got 4 as well, two looked like they had new paint on them, and the other two were a little scratched up, nothing serious. They all work flawlessly and had the stickers/stamps like jlcasagranda said.
