View Thread: Non-corrosive berdan primed ammo?

Is this stuff really non-corrosive? Like brown bear 7.62x54r "non-corrosive" ammo, and the non-corrosive 5.45x39 wolf ammo? Can I shoot this stuff through my rifles and not have to subsequently clean them?

I have a case of wolf through my ak and havent cleaned it yet. Yep, its NON corrosive.

ME THINKS that all new production ammo is non corosive. Only the old surplus stuff is corrosive.

All the bears and Wolf anything are current production and therefore non-corrosive.

Cool. It seems like I've heard a few stories of people shooting non-corrosive through their mosins and still getting some rust..? So I just wanted to make sure.

knall
Thats just stuff (surpluss from god knows when) that somebody decided to call NON corosive.

If its from the 70's or prior just assume.... CORROSIVE

bill3542
consider all east-bloc surplus corrosive.
never heard of corrosive problems with new production russian ammo, consider chinese norinco 7.62x39 corrosive even if the box is marked non-corrosive.

Just understand....your firearms can and WILL rust after "noncorrosive" ammo use under the right conditions. It is up to you to judge if you "have to" clean them or not.
