Hello! First time post on AK Files.

I purchased 500 rounds of Golden Tiger 7.62X39 at the gunshow in Waycross, GA this past weekend for $50.00 plus the vender threw in 20 new stripper clips. Is this ammo good stuff? I plan to use it as plinking ammo in my Russian SKS. The specs are FMJBT, 124 gr., lead core, steel case, non-corrosive. Made by Federal State Enterprise "Vympel", Russia, Imported by Star Vector Corporation. I have never fired my SKS. I hear the SKSs are fun to shoot.

Thanks for your replies in advance!

Ray!!! Welcome aboard, the SKS is an AWESOME weapon to shoot. (I'll actually get in trouble for saying this, but...) I actually enjoy shooting my SKS More than my AK, but it's not as convenient. I've heard that the Golden Tiger is fine stuff. I've mostly shot Bernaul, Wolf and the "bear" line. Let us know how the Tiger shoots! Enjoy your SKS, and if you have any questions about it, let me know.

I also bought a 1000 round dented case of Golden Tiger from AIM which they marked down. I regret not purchasing the other dented case for myself since I split the case with a friend. It is very good ammo. I've shot Wolf, various Bear brands and unmarked Russian surplus. The Golden Tiger is the least dirty Russian ammo and I'm sure you'll like shooting it in your SKS.
