Ok gentlemen..here's the plan for Saturday in Flagstaff...

got a bunch of family groups coming up to camp, cook and shoot on friday, saturday...so I'll have plenty of assistance if needed....

I want to find my best iron sights shooters out of my mosin collection.

I need you opinions on how to go about doing this properly...

does this sound good or do you have a better idea?

1. have nice bench setup with sand bags and rubber dead resting thingys...lol.

2. have multiple types of surplus ammo... heavy and light ball

3. set up a target for each rifle out 50 yards? to make it easy?

4. break out one type of surplus ammo...shoot each rifle at traget with this ammo..label target with rifle #1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

5. after shooting rifle # 8 at target #8...start over with new targets, ammo and rifle #1.

6. label targets with ammo type and rifle #...

compare targets??

brush barrels after each ammo type?

any input would be appreciated...thanks...

Target holders be prepared for breakages.

Best design for planned dammage and expense.

do not use rocks to hold down target stand or fill moving boxes - use expendable non ricochaaaye sand baggs

FUNNE TARGETS to stimulate thr brain.

Coconuts - put coconuts in cooler - drink coconuts - shoot at husks. Head shaped sized for critical hit.

Make sure that the bayonet is deployed on your M44 carbines.

You will not be able to gauge the true accuracy of the rifle if the bayonet is folded. The Soviet armories sighted in the rifle with the bayonet deployed. I would predict that you get a 1" - 3" deviation to the lower left at 50 yards if you don't deploy the bayonet.

50 yards would be "easier," but that is probably to close to judge the accuracy. I would go with 100 yards since you will see a more pronounced difference in groupings from rifle to rifle at that longer distance.
