Value of East German Karabiner S stock.

Hello everybody!

I have an East German 'Karabiner S' SKS stock, and I would like to know if any of you guys have any idea what it's worth?

I'm not too familiar with the value of SKS-related objects, and I'm just curious to find out what it might be worth. It is in very good condition, laminated wood with the correct hole for the sling that goes through the butt. This hole is neatly made, not like the crudely carved homemade holes I have seen posted as genuine examples elsewhere. [I have seen a few where people have tried to copy the Mauser Kar98k-type sling hole and pass them along as genuine examples, when they have in reality been modified Polish examples.]

It has the typical East German 4-digit serial number stamped on the left side of the butt, and the German gentleman I got it from claimed it came from the East German 'Wachregiment Friedrich Engels' in Berlin.

Sadly, I don't have the upper handguard for it, or the steel butt plate. This is the model that would use the small buttplate.

The stock looks exactly like the one in this picture;

I will try to post a few pictures of it as soon as I can get my hands on a new digital camera [lost my old camera in the sea while fishing :( ].

So what do you think it could be worth? Some people say that these stocks are extremely rare. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Without buttplate it's worth about $60 - $75. These are commonly available in Germany from CDS Ehrenreich for much less (€15) but yours is already here in the US.

Thanks, much appreciated!

I'm in Norway, btw. :) We don't see a lot of the SKS rifles over here.

What an interesting SKS, 99.9% of all I see are ChiCom so it would be so nice to find something different!

Do you want to sell that stock??

Hello amac. :)

Thank you so much for your request, and please forgive me for my late reply, but I have reserved the SKS stock for another member of the board.

Happy New Year :)
