In this undated photo released by the Yemeni Army on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, Yemeni government soldiers are seen riding in the back of a truck in Saada province, Yemen. Yemeni warplanes on Wednesday hit a makeshift camp for civilians fleeing fighting between the government and Shiite rebels, killing dozens of people, witnesses said.

Nice pics. I love the SVD bullpup!

I'm gonna have to cut me one of those stylish "snot-slots" in my moustache... That's just got to make hanky-work lots easier. :)
That one photo just *has* to be a photo-op pose, as the postion of the butt-stocks lower corner is gonna take a nice "dig" if he were to pull the trigger. Either way, a "hit" (at any kind of real distance) would be improbable with that kind of eye-relief set-back.
I wonder if these guys get any decent training - or if they hand them a rifle and say "welcome to the yemeni army"?

Argh why can't we buy those in the USA anymore...

They look like training photos. In the second shot there's a group of soldiers standing in the open observing. The camera man is fully exposed in that pic, as well.
Body armor and flack jackets can make getting a rifle in the pocket of the shoulder difficult, if not impossible.

HPP,
We can't get any really good guns from Russia itself because of a Bill Clinton era agreement called the "Russian Agreement on Arms and Ammunition" signed April 19, 1996. It does not prohibit by name any firearm, rather it lists
only those that can be imported from Russia. The agreement also covers parts. That's why we can't get AK parts sets from Russia, it's also why Soviet SKS's, Tokarev rifles and pistols, and P-38's totally dried up 13 years ago suddenly.
From Russia we can get only:
Pistols/Revolvers
1. German Model P08 Pistol
2. IZH 34M, .22 caliber Target Pistol
3. IZH 35M, .22 caliber Target Pistol
4. Mauser Model 1896 Pistol
5. MC-57-1 Pistol
6. MC-1-5 Pistol
7. Polish Vis Model 35 Pistol
8. Soviet Nagant Revolver
9. TOZ 35, .22 caliber Target Pistol
Rifles
1. BARS-4 Bolt Action Carbine
2. Biathlon Target Rifle, .22LR caliber
3. British Enfield Rifle
4. CM2, .22 caliber Target Rifle (also known as SM2,
.22 caliber)
5. German Model 98K Rifle
6. German Model G41 Rifle
7. German Model G43 Rifle
8. IZH-94
9. LOS-7 Bolt Action Rifle
10. MC-7-07
11. MC-18-3
12. MC-19-07
13. MC-105-01
14. MC-112-02
15. MC-113-02
16. MC-115-1
17. MC-125/127
18. MC-126
19. MC-128
20. Saiga Rifle
21. Soviet Model 38 Carbine
22. Soviet Model 44 Carbine
23. Soviet Model 91/30 Rifle
24. TOZ 18, .22 caliber Bolt Action Rifle
25. TOZ 55
26. TOZ 78
27. Ural Target Rifle, .22LR caliber
28. VEPR Rifle
29. Winchester Model 1895, Russian Model Rifle
Therefore any other firearm is prohibited.
That's why the scrillions of SKS's, SVD's, and Tokarev's they have or once had are not eligible for import. This agreement is also why "Sanitized" Dragunovs and Tokarevs are so blasted cheap in Europe (€300 - €500), they are not competing with us for them coupled with the fact that demand is low for them in Europe. Transarms GmbH in Germany sells totally unissued, new in original factory wrap, never seen the light of day mid/late-1940's Tok's for €299 and they sit and collect dust on the shelves of their warehouse.

Yeah, I know all about that. I thought it was '95 though. Just more stupidity we gun owners have to deal with in this country.
