The only water-cooled gun I can even remotely think of is the Maxim. You'd have to construct a shroud around the length of the barrel and then add a feeding tub or lid for the water placement.

The shroud with water would weigh more than the gun itself and be front heavy. The Maxim was a fully automatic machinegun...which makes it understandable why the barrel would need heavy cooling but the PSL...10 rounds max and even though the barrel heats up, you're better off waiting a minute or 2 between shots rather than lugging around a 20lb water-cooled DMR. :laugh_sma

Damn straight Tigr. It would probably look funny and then you would need a trip pod to shoot the thing. It would be a fixed emplacement DMR.

They should make it with a bull barrel and free-float, then it would be dead accurate.

Although, with the obamination PSL in the other thread, seeing someone try this would be funny and a true test of skill with tools. It would also be very unique instead of turning the psl into an ak.

I agree with you about shroud on PSL !!

Just an American, water cooled M.G. came to mind. I thought to throw it out for your consideration.

There's just no need for any magazine-fed semi-auto weapon to need a water jacket... The 1919a4's are updated from the 1917a1 (water-cooled) guns and they are lighter and easier to transport and work just fine. The only real reason to own a water-cooled gun is simply because you like them and want one since they are kinda cool in their own way.. I like my 1919a4 and 1919a6, but I have to admit that I really crave a 1917a1 and am going to build a semi-auto "clone".

I'll be using a de-milled Izzy 1919a4 kit with Karma's semi-auto T&S and this custom new-made water jacket & trunion->

I'm still scrounging up parts and need the right top-cover and ladder sights, but I did find a nice original tripod for it.

I'm hoping to get the build started later this fall after I finish up my time-consuming physical therapy visits for some back surgeries I had done recently.

I'd enthusiastically recommend anyone interested in belt-fed guns to get busy and get your stuff now while things are still affordable and available. Prices hit rock bottom about 18 months ago and have been climbing since, so these guns are destined to become outstanding investments.

I'd hate to be the ammo carrier for a water cooled PSL...

Gunner: Hand me a another magazine...3 seconds later...Hand me another magazine....3 seconds later...Hand me another magazine...3 seconds later...Hand me another magazine...3 seconds later...Hand me another magazine...

Ammo Carrier: Goddammit!
