Well I think I got a couple of decent loads worked up for my Saiga. I was very pleased with the face that there was not a brand (and I tried about 5 of them) that this rifle wouldn't feed, fire or eject. This rifle just eats them up. Even with the Bear and Wolf brands, they would stay in the 10 ring of SR-1 target... I had a Bushnell red dot sight for the milsurp stuff and a Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x 42mm Scope for the handloads. I got acceptable groups with 55gr and 60gr bullets. The load recipies were:

LC brass
Win small rifle primers
21.6 gr IMR 3031 (for 60gr FBHP)
22.0 gr IMR-3031 (for 55gr BTSP)
Mag fit/ full length sized.

Yep, It's a keeper.........

I like the look, similar to one of my Saiga .223 conversions but i do have questions. the front handguard is that a creation of your own and is that a AK-74 sight setup and was it a bitch to get the factory one off? closer pics of hand guard and front sight if possible.

concretus
Thank you...The hand guard is a Tapco Intrafusion type. I cut the top of the front on an angle and then along the bottom of the vent holes. I wanted to expose the gas tube a little, Purely aesthetics. I like the hand guard because it allows me to use a bipod.
The front sight is stock. I put a DPH phantom flashider from Carolina Shooters Supply on it. It is the type that you install a threaded clip on the back of the front sight and screw the flashider on.
I left my camera in my office. Sorry I won't be able to take pics until Monday.

Cool looking mask you have there, and the rifle is not bad either! I assume it is from Africa? I have few in my collection as well.

Good job! That sure is a sexy rifle.

That's Kahannamuko, Hawaiian surf god. He keeps the surf up here in Fl. The surf was real flat for the first half of the summer here. I picked him up in the Keys. As soon as the virgin was sacrificed, we got hurricane Bill. Duuuuuude,,,,,
:cool_smal

I picked him up at a roadside souvenir place in the Keys...He might be fron S.A., I don't know......
