Sad to say the least, What was he thinking, agree buy an ak not a &$^%$&% screw up.
studmuffinusa
i know it looks like my 4th grader put it together.
tack welding metal on the back... i threw up a little in my mouth when i saw it.
bounce19712
shot too much heavy ball?
Devil505
I wonder if hes shot it like that. The dust cover looks screwed up and I would trust his welding on the back of that reciever. You might blow your face off!
Plus $800+ for that! Ridiculous. Just go get a nice AK for that.
ak47junky
I think id rather have this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5Z2dZEbNRA

I think I might pay more for the paper ak vs the psl monstrosity. The welding is a nightmare. I bet he screwed up the gun and is now dumping it on gunbroker. I have heard so many horror stories about the auctions.

With an opening asking bid of $865 – that’s like taking a baseball bat to a Corvette and then asking an extra $10K over the price of a new one… :uhoh_smal

or kinda like pre-trashed jeans for $250 :rofl_smal

just wondering if any of you did build this...
wouldnt you just bend a U shape piece that fits into the back of the reciever and use rivits/ screws to hold it in place and not make a permanent mod to the gun?
hell i bet they even have a kit/piece to do just that
just wondering

EXACTLY! Cripes, I even noticed that they're selling baseball hats with the brim worn thread bare for a premium price... When I go buy a new hat - it's to replace the one with the thread-bare brim and crusty salt-stains.

Thats pop-culture American fashion for ya. Whats old is new and what was out of style is now hip. Seriously what the hell...how come this doesn't work in the gun industry. I'd love to see a classic like the SVD come back to the market. :small_gri

The title of this auction is "PSL looks like AK47"

Hmm, it sometimes happens depending on how the seller uses an image uploader. Just one of those odd techno-glitches which just happen.

That poor PSL! It's ok to drink while you clean your [unloaded] firearms, however, it's not ok to drink while you weld stuff to your firearms!

In all of my years of owning, shooting, collecting, and commenting on firearms, 20 years total, that's the worst abuse of a firearm I've ever seen.

i... i... i just dont know how to feal. every time i look at it... well... its alot like when you watch a movie and they total a classic car that is all cherried out. you know that they wrecked a car that cant be replaced and there are fewer and fewer of them around. same thing hear. this guy dosent deserve to own one.

Well, perhaps something like this can at least warrant the mythical twenty-round magazine. That would be a redeeming factor for this abomination and the aesthetics can always be improved upon later--or on future "modifications".
...or a 'Hello Kitty' paint job...

my eyes.....they burn, i suggest we destroy that fugly mostrosity......

maybe poorly built, but i like the concept.
i like the heck out the rifle. that is what the PSL should have looked like in the first place. i own several of the psl's and have one simular to that one that i build 3 or 4 years ago. turned out to be one of my best shooters.
i don't like the wimpy looking stock that comes with the PSL. if i can find a picture of mine i will post it. i kept the PSL handguards on mine.
what i really don't like about the PSL's is the people that try to call it a dragunov, not even close. it just an ak streached out to shoot the 7.62 x 54r. heck! they even put the same style stock on some ak's
some notes on mine: the one posted is not mine.
i rebuilt one of mine 3 or 4 years ago and cut metal out of a m-1 carbine mag i had that was damaged. i just cut it to fit in the curved space to square it off ( welded it in place). i just used a regular u.s. made ak stock ( composite) and a SAW type pistol grip on mine. i used the yugo pistol grip nut (install it to the bottom of the receiver like it fits on the yugo). it worked out well.
the rifle is 922r compliant, there is a debate going on weather or not it is needed, but just in case mine is. i used a U.S. custom made cetme muzzle brake on the barrel. threaded the barrel for it.
i use the tapco FCG on mine and it smoothed out the trigger pull a lot.
i am going to put a nato ak stock on it later
( it is about 1-1/2" longer i think)
i also removed the old bayonet stub part and moved the front site back to where the bayonet was.
much better line of site on it, when using open sites. i hardly ever use the scope on it.
PS: there are not many imported ak's made that i have not owned at least one of them or still own. so i guess i am a very big fan of the ak.
pictures when i can dig it out of one of the safes and figure how to post it.

What are y'all complaining about? I don't see any screws attaching the trunnions to the receiver!!! :D
(Sorry; I just HAD to... )
Tigr
Had it been done correctly it would have looked a lot nicer, the concept is cool. The 10-round mag is pretty out of place though, but nothing out there to make it truly hi-cap, well nothing easy to mod anyway.
Found this on another forum. Looks good but would be a monster of a gun if the mag went for another 20 rounds...hmmm...welding 3 mags to make one...

Auction ended (with NO bids)... Can't say I'm surprised. To be honest, I'm not knocking the concept and the rifle's "front half" (not counting the weird discoloration around the from trunion area of the receiver) doesn't really look that bad.
I lost it on that crappy "WTF" weld-up on the rear trunion area. I mean seriously, I think that any one of us here would have modified a butt-stock to fit the rifle without resorting to welding on the rear of the receiver/trunion..
It's kind of as shame really - since if the rifle "runs" and was built right (NO kooky welds), it would have been kind of cool.
Seadog
Well tere sure are alot of Frankenstines out there. Some definitley better than others.
Snowman
I like the concept myself. The work is pretty bad on this one though. I've been lookin for someone to do the front end work like this on one of mine but no one has been interested so far and I don't have the skills/equipment to tackle it.
