View Thread: CAI Now Offering Three Tantal Twists

Archivist Dick
I thought it best to share the news with other militant comrades, Century is currently offering three separate and different Tantal barrels on their builds.

We've discussed 1x7" and 1x9" so far. Please note: Both these are six grooved barrels.

Now there is a 1x8" four groove barrel offering!

Which to choose?

Well, seems you really only have the choice in ordering from Century directly - otherwise it is most likely a crap shoot. Example: Classic Arms has the best current price at $499.95 freight-on-buyer. Yet what twist is it? Doubtful that the good folks at Classic would have a clue! Sorry to say that but ... that's my best guess, YMMV.

If I planned to shoot milsurp ball exclusively or nearly so, I'd go 1x9." If commercial ammo only would be considered, than 1x7" would be nice. Half-'n-half? Well, I'd opt 1x8." This is correct, isn't it?

The struggle continues.

I'd think the the 4 groove 1 in 8 twist would at least be close to the original Polish factory barrels.

Any idea if they are chrome-lined?

I'm going to call classic arms.

Hammerem
Classic arms says they are recent builds wthe barrels have a 1 in 9 twist.

he didn't know off hand what the serial # were or how many grooves in the barrel. Since I wasn't buying I didn't push him to check. $499.00 seems tough to beat though.

I just got a Tantal from Classic arms last week. Serial number started with a Y and it had a 1/8 Twist.

Hammerem
Rhavas,

Let us know how many grooves and how well it shoots whatever type of ammo you use in it. Also if you would mind sharing roughly how high a serial # the gun has.
