Sarco are all out of the sub $400 kits. FAC has 'like new' kits for $799
which is just waaaaay to rich for my blood ! By the time you have built
up a 922 compliant gun at that price it's gonna be spendy !

Florida gun works has them for $639.95 + shipping
Keystone arms has them for $549 + shipping

Can anyone beat the Keystone price ? I hafta say, the most I would spend
on a kit is going to be in the $450 region, as you will always need a new
barrel to set the headspace/extractor cut/gas port relationship correctly
anyway....

The FAC kits are well worth the extra, new 1 in 7 twist barrel, floating firing pin a LW Syn. stock, all other parts are new as well.

And I have heard some bad things about FGW's.

Wish I knew who had the kits at Knob Creek last spring. The kits were pretty trashy, but they were only $200. I was supposed to try and find a couple more for friends this fall, but missed the shoot due to work changes at the last minute. The kit I bought last spring built up into a pretty decent gun. We used the original good condition barrel and built up a post-sample MG on a reweld receiver from Sarco. $300 for a functional Galil w/bipod,....not too bad.

If anyone knows who had the kits at KCR, let me knnow. I'd still like a couple more, condition be damned.

Sparky, that sounds kinda familiar, but I didn't get a name. KCR is the land of 'no receipts'. I think he was in the pole building just back of DSA, in towards the aisle somewhere.

With the scarcity of receivers in the market, you may want to post WTB's on various internet boards to see if someone has a kit for sale.

There is a world of difference in the condition of the kits that sold at $500 (well worn) compared to the kits we have priced at $780 (excellent to like new).
I think gunthings.com has new barrels for sale at a reasonable price.

Thanks Harlan. I put myself on Mr Huffmans wait list for a receiver, once
I realised that FAC were not likely to get the Vulcan/Hess recivers in stock.

I agree about the condition of the kits, but I would refinish any kit I built
so external condition isn't important and most of the moving internals
will get replaced for 922 compliance anyway. As I said before, I would
purchase a new barrel for the kit, as you would be *very* lucky if the
original barrel would headspace correctly on a new receiver with the
extractor cut and gas port in the right place.

The barrels at GunThings are a very good price, but are (IIRC)
1:12 twist, which means that they won't stabilise SS109 ammo. You would
have to stay with M193 (?) 55gr. - not that that's a hardship, but just
something to keep in mind.

But again, thanks for the reply. I rate FAC as one of the best vendors on
the market.

Thanks Sparky. I promised a couple of friends that I would pick up Galil kits for them if I made it to the Creek. At least I can pass along the contact info. Thanks.

I ordered several kits from Kurt at Ordnance Research. Condition was about the same as the Sarco ~400 kits. Pleased for the money. That was several months ago and at the time he said he was starting to run low on kits.

Thanks Sparky. For anyone else who's looking, the URL is :

http://www.ordnanceresearch.com/categories.asp?cID=22

I haven't checked them for availability yet.

For all who asked about the receivers, Derek at AzExArms is comissioning
a CNC run of Galil receivers. Likely to be $399 each. Contact him here :
