On Tantal's collector information web site, under the bayonet section, he describes an Izmach (sp?) made boyonet with the "type two" pommel cap. The type two pommel cap has what he describes as " large ligtning cuts" that skinny down the cap where the lanyard attaches.
Does anyone in the USA have one of these? Are they super duper rare?
What is the value of such a specimin?

Here's a photo of the 2 types in case you haven't already seen them. LW on left, "normal" on right. The LW ones are pretty uncommon in the US, but turn up every now & then.

Thank you for the picture post. Is that your Type 2? What do those go for $$ wise?

I can't really remember what I paid for it. It was either $50 or $70. About a year or 2 ago a big batch of Russian AK bayonets was imported and the "normal" late AKM/early AK-74 bayonets could be had for about $35 or so on Ebay. I picked up the LW one at the same time from someone else that had a bunch of Russian bayonets they were selling.
I haven't been paying attention, so I haven't noticed any coming up for sale lately so I don't have any recent pricing info. If you want one and see one for sale, then jump on it because it will probably be awhile before another turns up. It's also possible that someone might not realize that there are the different pommel types, so it might not be mentioned in an ad.
