After reading some positive things about Gander Mountain on this forum I decided to make the 30 mile drive and check it out. The best thing I can say for them is that I'm glad its only 30 miles. While they had a nice stock of firearms, I found their prices to be higher than Academy and even Sports Authority on similar gear. They sold Wolf 7.62x39 for $10/box so that puts them near CTD prices! Overall I'd say its a good place to go when you have to find something right then (good inventory), but not a good place to get a good deal. I was disappointed.

I only go there for 12 gauge birdshot shells. Occasionally they'll run sales on 12 gauge shells by the case. Everything else is sky high. They keep a decent amount of firearms on hand but their prices are always significantly higher than anyone else.

They are high here too. 8 bucks a box for Wolf. I'm not really impressed by anything there so I don't go.

I thought Sports authority doesnt sell shooting stuff anymore?

The one here got rid of everything cept paintball.

That store chain is on my black list. At the top.

im in so MN.i go to our Gander Mtn. to look at guns and see how high prices could be.also to relax and think cause there's usually around 6 other customers in the whole store.

I go to Gander all the time when in MN....but for everything except firearms and ammo...

I like gander for cleaning supplies. They were as cheap as Midway.com for that atleast. For ammo prices they are way over the prices of anything online, walmart, and local shops. I will say this though they have friendly staff and they are willing to help you with anything. The one in my home town isn't ever very busy, but the local walmart can't keep ammo in past the hour it is placed on the shelf....I live in central florida.

I don't think I have ever bought anything from Gander Mountain, not that I don't want to, I just never have. I love looking around there though. Last time I was there they had a used H&K over/under 12 gauge for $900! I didn't even know that H&K made shotguns.
