View Thread: Another new furniture option...
Tigr
Saw this on another forum I visit and it seems another option is now on the table. The stock is going to be made of walnut, has a soft rubber buttpad and cheek rest, the handguards have threaded inserts for bi-pod mounting and the buttstock is redesigned with a lefty version being considered.
Looks awesome. Now I wonder what the price will be.

I like it where can I get one?

The poster on the other forum is named Rhineland Arms so I'm speculating thats the company.
The post was to test interest because they'll begin producing them once they feel there is enough to warrant going through with it.

Thanks Tigr.
I found a link to their site if anyone else is interested.

Cool, they have a price now.

I like how this stock looks much more like the traditional SVD stock. The bipod stud and cheek pad are a nice bonus as well. I could almost see myself getting this setup..

I received this e-mail from them about the stocks
The Ultra Grip is a material that is great for target shooters as it
provides extra grip even when sweaty. I am not sure if we will put it on
the PSL stocks as it is kind of abrasive and may hurt due to the recoil.
We do apply it to the Ruger stocks with good effect.
The PSL stocks are not ready yet. I am moving very fast but do not want to
give a exact date. I am shooting for having stock in full production and
shipping later in Sept. We can meet that without much problem it looks
like.
We can not accept payment for those stocks yet. I can send a email as soon
as they are ready.
Thanks
Rhineland Arms

You can always buy another (and hope to get a good one)... :uhoh_smal

emailed them yesterday.
Hello, At this time they first batch will be ready later this month but I do not have a date yet. I am playing around with the color on the wood at this time. Thanks Rhineland Arms

I could go for that. Especially if they put a little red in the finish as well.
Ironwood has a good regular rifle stock, but it doesn't have the bi pod channel, the rubber butt pad and the cheek rest.
Tigr
Its interesting now that you think about it. The PSL is growing more and more like its distant relative, the SVD.
With this new stock set, as Slick mentioned, it resembles the SVD a lot more now. Add in the polymer set (which seems to be rare now, kind of like the real SVD polymer set) and we've got another match.
Now if we only had an adjustable gas block that didn't look like a damn Lego-cinderblock.
Rick_A
My only interest would be a PSL polymer stock set that still looks just like a PSL...and retains the buttplate assembly.
Bascot
At $185.00 I think I'll go for this. I wonder if they will sell them unfinished for less. I'd like to put an Ironwood walnut Russion foregrip and pistol grip on my Romy underfolder and stain them to match, with a boiled linseed oil/beeswax finish.
riley107
i think if the ones that are interested emailed them showing interest, it would maybe help getting it on the market??
Slick
I'd be much more interested if this stock is made using traditional plywood. While plywood is certainly not as attractive, I'd think it to be much more durable than straight-grain wood that's been skeletonized to this degree.

Got an e-mail from them today, the stocks should be ready in a few days will be offered in finished and unfinished.
I've had great communication with the owner.

Jeez, they already raised the price ten bucks

You have to remember that when they first posted about the possibility of making these it was to see if the interest was worth entering the market. A $10 price increase isn't much, if anything its adjustment to production costs.
No company is going to start making a product that has more time and effort than there are profits. Thats just business to stay in business. :skull:

I don't understand why it takes so long for them to make them ,I made a complete set for mine in my garage in 3 days with basic tools

Pics please. I have tools too and have been thinking of making a buttstock but would like a proven pattern first.

Its easier to make one for yourself since you're basically designing it on your time and with your preference.
Since they're releasing this as a large scale product for the consumer market, can you imagine if they did a rush job and just shipped out stuff they made in a couple days? They'd get a lot of flak and complaints about quality and everyone thinking of buying one would be wary of even considering spending the money with the company.
Basic business concept, you don't rush a product and hope it sells just because you found a buyer base.
Why does Ironwood Design have such a good reputation? Because they take the time and care into creating stuff thats worth the price in quality. Rhineland Arms is doing the same thing with their PSL wood stock, so cut them a little slack.

I have pics but they are to big to post and i don't know how to make them smaller, send me your e-mail and I can send them to you.

Boeing was a giant company that had full backing to produce the B-17. Would be pretty easy considering that once WWII broke out and the US entered in 1941, nearly the entire commercial sector became involved in arms production.
I don't see whats funny about it, but if you made a PSL stock set at home, then good for you. Now if you can produce enough for say, 150 customers interested in your stock and get stocks out to each of them within 3 days, then you deserve Better Business Bureau Award.
I personally hate attacks on individuals or companies providing a service to the firearms community. Take for example the Saiga conversions by Tromix. You can expect to wait 6 or more months for a conversion that someone can do at home in a day. Yet there are few if any complaints by Tony's customers. For a new member you've got some lack of general respect in that regard.
Just my opinion.

I don't remember attacking anyone ,you might go back and read my post, I asked a question. It would be nice if you didn't try to put words in my mouth.

I just want a clone of the standard wooden SVD stock. Something like
http://www.zastava-arms.co.rs/images/vojni/sniper/m91_engleski.htm
that doesn't add a ton of weight to it but does give a straight stock with a better length of pull.
"englishski" hahahahahahaha

Rhineland is now selling them on gunbroker.com.

I got an e-mail Thursday that they had started shipping them, and would be caught up by Monday, November 2. I ordered the unfinished oak option 1 for $120.00 total with a money order, UPS ground, so it will be a week before it gets here.

I just broke down and ordered the Ver. 1 kit, in walnut, from them too, $130, shipped. I was waiting since March for the black composite kit from CFS and they called on Fri. to see if I still wanted it, saying it was ready to ship. I decided against it and got the RA set instead for two reasons: I like wood better (walnut in particular) and it was cheaper than the black plastic.

Are you saying CFS has the polymer stocks in right now?? I've been trying to find out if they are even being made anymore, so this is good news!
Wyldman
They actually had them in hand, ready to ship on Thursday, whether they still have any, I don't know. I decided against getting the ones I had on order since March and ordered the RA set instead.
HPP
C'mon, one of you guys has to have gotten a set of these. Post pics!
Tigr
I'd buy a set but don't have another PSL at the moment to put it on. It would look better on a full length PSL than my Paratrooper, which I prefer in polymer. :D

sent my money order in OCT. to them. i thought they were going to be shipped by the 5 of NOV. i waited and then sent them an e-mail about the status of the shipping and they said they were shipping later that week. they said they had gotten my money order. i didn't get mine so i sent another e-mail and they sent me an e-mail back and said they had just missed me ( they were not sure why i didn't get mine) and would send it out the next day. i should have got it by last thur or fri.
UPDATE: i just got an e-mail from them, my stock set has been shipped.
thanks
