View Thread: FYI on new 5.45 Saigas

Just picked one up at Centerfire yesterday....they have dimpled receivers!!!! :D

Looks like AK-74 mags should work just fine after adding a bullet guide too.

Sorry, no pics.....yet.

I got mine in yesterday :).

I need to order a trigger group so to go on with the conversion.

I removed the sporter trigger group, trigger guard along with the plate that it is spot welded to, come to find that the PG hole is already there, rifle is vintage 09.

As time permits I will be fitting the trigger guard.

I have some AK 74 mags and they fit perfect as far as going in the mag well and latching on. I too will need to install a bullet guide. It looks like is going to be pretty easy to fabricate after reading this thread.

Also this is better yet since it has pictures, mind you they are for a .223, but the trunnion cut in the 5.45x39 looks the same. Look at post #16 from Dinzag, keep your eye on the .223 Guide for flat-cut trunnion.

From my point of view it may just be a drop in after drilling and tapping.
