View Thread: PSL gas/ recoil adjustment theories

Well its pretty obvious that the adjustable gas block is but ugly so thats out, buffers suck, but they got me thinking about a few posibilities Id like to run by you guys.

1 How about wolf making a set of heavier recoil springs for the rifle, Like they do in with 1911's? A few different springs such as + 5% +10% etc could allow you to tune your gun to the ammo.

2 what about enlarging the hole in the gas block, then tapping it then installing a set screw with a smaller hole. You could build up several set screws with different sized holes. Does the PSL use just a standard ak gas block.

3 What about a modified gas tube. Say you drill some holes in it further down the tube like the russian or chinese gas tubes. Hell you could even do like a FAL gas system and weld a threaded tube onto the gas tube then drill a hole and use a nut to adjust the amount of gas excaping.

I think until someone designs a visually pleasing adjustable gas-block that doesn't look like an oversized LEGO piece, then the Holy Grail of a heavy-ball/grain PSL is still a long ways away.

If you look at the SVD/Tigr/NDM you'll see that there are many other features aside from the adjustable gas system that assists in reduced recoil and useage of heavier loads.

Grantman's post not too long ago really helped to show the internal differences.

A PSL would have to have...in my opinion anyway.

1.) Adjustable gas block
2.) A milled receiver
3.) A non-ribbed top cover
4.) A Dragunov/Tiger/NDM style recoil spring system (see Grantman's post)
5.) A heavier barrel...just for the heck of it.
