View Thread: '74 by In Range?

Atlantic has these Bulgy '74's built by In Range. Wondering if anybody has seen them or has an idea of the fit & finish?

I've got a Tantal but am considering adding a '74 and these look nice.

Would I be better off buying a Saiga and converting it later on?

Thanks!

Looking at the ad, one thing I noticed about them is that they come with KVAR plum stocks, which is better than the Tapco furniture on Bulgarian TGI builds they're selling for $20 less. Another thing to ask is whether the muzzle brake is welded on (it is on the TGI build they sell).

In Range builds some ofthe best AK's in the business.

I've heard that a few times. Since I like the plum furniture, probably no reason not to get one of these. Appreciate the comments guys.

Does an In-Range build say "In-Range" anywhere on the rifle?

I ordered one from AIM and it's at my FFL but the receiver says TGI Knox, TN with no trace of In-Range on the weapon.

It has K-Var furniture and the part #'s match. Also came with a bulgy mag rather than a pro-mag...

No, the rifle does not say InRange, and that was one of my complaints too. Not only does the rifle not say InRange, but I didn't even get any paperwork stating that InRange built the rifle. I know InRange did build these, because I spoke with them.

But still, it would be nice to be able to prove it in the event you ever wanted to sell the rifle. Any potential buyer is just gonna see "TGI" on the rifle, and think you're full of shit when you try to tell him it's an InRange, but you can't produce any documentation proving it.

The InRange guns do not have any qualifying markings other than being a top of the line build. Mine says TGI because TGI ordered the recievers and contracted InRange to do the $599 builds. There has been some complaints over the rear butt stock being scuffed when shipped from KVAR and no heat shield in handguard, but AIM is handling any and all complaints or problems very fast and efficiently.

As far as the actual build goes, great finish (even and deep), perfect rivets, everything straight and and these guns really shoot! Real Bulgy barrels, (no keyholing like some others), comp is NOT tac welded on and lastly, if you did have some kind of a problem, they offer an outstanding warranty. Buy with confidence, InRange's reputation speaks for itself.

If you call InRange with your serial number, they will review the master list and confirm whether the gun was built by them or not. simple process.

It just looks like a TGI! How do we *know* Troy built these '74's?

If it runs good, I'll likely keep it indefinitely, but it would be nice, for resale, to be able to say it was built by InRange.

My Red Jacket says Red Jacket for example.

So I guess the soft case and bulgy mag mean I didn't accidentally get a $499 TGI gun? no way to tell though!

Like i said, you can call them if you need too confirm but if you got the extras, you got the InRange gun. Also, if you got the cheaper gun, you'd be able to tell instantly just by appearance, so shoot it and enjoy it, you're good to go.
