A Special Weapons AR47 in 7.62x39 w/20" barrel. Takes regular AK mags instead of those rip-off 7.62 AR conversion mags. Looks like it should be a fun blaster & more accurate than your typical AK. The better sights & more choices for mounting optics will come in handy too. I'll give a full report when I finally get to pick it up :)

Dude i'd hate to break the news to ya but someone stole your rear sight and jammed an ak47 magazine in the mag well. :wink_smal

I like it! I really want to get one of those(once I read some more range reports). I have plenty of mags to keep one happy.

Well this should put into an end to the ak47's aren't accurate crap.

Is the ak not accurate because of the way it's made or because the caliber just sucks? ???

Shoot the same ammo in an ak then shoot it out of this 'ar' and report back to us please.

I will let you know how it shoots when I get it. Will probably be about a week & a half cause I just shipped a gun out in trade for it. Gotta wait till the dealer gets it first. It's made by Special Weapons & is called the AR47. Check out www.ar47.com & they have a few details. I plan on trying to compare it with my Bulgarian SLR-95 AK. I'll put a few rounds through it & let you know what kind of reliability I get. Should work out well for me since I've got plenty of AK ammo & mags.

I've heard plenty about Todd before - don't want to get into that. I'm going to judge the gun based on the merits rather than an individual.

I would like to know how the rifle works, as well. This is a great concept, I feel it's the only way to make a proper AR in 7.62x39. But with Toad's track record the exacutation of the concept may suffer. And like was said, the Toad's idea of a warrenty tends to be much different than a customer's idea.

Fortunately this gun uses almost all standard AR parts, including parts in the lower. The only real difference is the lower receiver. The upper & bolt carrier are standard but modified to handle the wider AK mag. In the event I have any problems with the gun I'll let you know. I plan on putting plenty of rounds through it.

Talked to a guy at the range that was shooting one. It seemed accurate, and it was functioning well.

Finally picked mine up last night. The quality is definitely there. The receiver looks to be well machined, everything fits together properly, the mags fit fine, etc. I am hoping when the weather gets better to get out and shoot it. Looks like it should be a lot of fun.

Make sure you pick up some good ammo to try this thing out. Happen to have slugged it yet, or know whether he used .308 or .310/.311 bore barrel on it?

If full size bore, I'd suggest again(and sure everyone's getting sick of this suggestion now, but too bad ;) ) Picking up some Lapua to really test the accuracy. Of course every gun likes different ammo, but overall, seems Lapua has been about best modern production ammo in both my 7.62 calibers(x39 and x53R)

Does the mag well have a steel block in it or is it all aluminum?? If it is all aluminum I wonder how it will react to the steel AK mags wear wise.

It has a steel block in it to avoid the problem you mention.
