has anyone tried reloading psl-54c rounds with .311 123gr bullets? what kind of results?

Haven't hand-loaded for my PSL-54c, what w/ all the milsurp ball laying around, yet I do load 123-grainers for Mosin-Nagant rifles, especially a certain Type 53 Carbine.

The projectiles I use are old Winchester-bulk FMJ and softies (.311). Midway used to sell these at very reasonable rates years ago.

Out of a MN=carbine these are truly superbly tight shooting (straight to POA), inexpensive, and very easy on the shoulder.

I see no reason that my PSL won't love this load too. Thanks for the idea.

Hornady recommends IMR-3031 with heavier bullets but doesn't list 123 - 125 grain bullets. IMR-3031 might be a good choice. Lyman shows 41.0 grains to 46.0 grains for 2518 fps to 2785 fps. Sierra has a 125 grain bullet loaded to 2.800" and load data for IMR-3031 at 43.6 grains , 45.1 grains and 46.5 grains. Somebody tried 43.5 grains of IMR-3031 with a Remington .310" SP and got 2635 fps to 2766 fps for a 3 inch 5 shot group. A higher load might be a bit better.

ive been reloading with 150gr,168gr 308 bullets because its available and get 3/4" groups at 50 yards. those .311 123gr are the only ones that are .311. selling at 100pcs for $22. there are others but almost double the cost for 150gr at .311. im jus trying to spend the least amount of money so i can buy more to shoot. mill surp is not available here. thanks for the info.
